Dr. Robert D. Trevathan, 89, of Martin, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at his residence.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Lee Clements officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery. Murphy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until one hour prior to the services Saturday at Trinity Presbyterian Church.


Dr. Trevathan was born Oct. 12, 1918, in Hollow Rock, son of the late L. E. and Ada Duncan Trevathan. He was a World War II Army veteran, a graduate of Union University and the University of Tennessee Medical School, a retired physician who worked in the veteran hospitals in Houston, Texas, and Memphis and was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Martin.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Margaret Vail Trevathan of Martin; two sons, James Vail Trevathan and William Lee Trevathan, both of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Kay Shelton of Alexandria, Va.; and two grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Thomas Trevathan.
