Rebecca Mabel Reed, 88, of Martin, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Murphy Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Brown and the Rev. Mike Sams officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.
Mrs. Reed was born Nov. 17, 1920, in Buena Vista, daughter of the late Martin Giles and Eva Gay Kee Bowers. She was the widow of Dr. John S. Reed, a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Steve (Suzanne) Reed of Woodbury; one daughter, Rebecca (Allen) Hanks of Gallatin; one sister, Clara Lee (Paul) Noles of Bruceton; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren., Web site: murphyfuneralhome.net wcp 2-19-09
