Berlon Jacob Brown, 72, died Friday, January 28, at his home in the Vale Community. Private services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 30, at the New. Hope Cemetery near Vale. Bruceton Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Brown, the son of the late Willie Aden and Laura Turner Brown, was born October 16,1927 t in Vale. He was a retired chief clerk for CSX Railroad, and an Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Melba Rogers Brown; a son - Matthew Brown of Bruceton; and sister, Lunete Brown of Paris

Mrs. Virginia Mae Birdwell, age 92, of Yuma, Tennessee passed away in her home on Friday, June 28, 2019, surrounded by loved ones.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00PM Monday, July 1, 2019 in the Chapel of Dilday-Carter Funeral Home. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Yuma, Tennessee. Brother Phillip Gulledge & Brother John D. Small will officiate.
Virginia was born July 31, 1926 to the late Arvel & Hazel Cole in Carroll County, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bendell Birdwell; and son, Ben Birdwell.
She was saved at the age of 12 and attended New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star for over sixty years.
Virginia is survived by a multitude of friends & extended family, as well as her beloved community of Yuma.
The family will receive friends Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM and also Monday 8:00AM until time of service at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Burton Cary, Joe Hampton, Joe Lewis, Rusty Bolen, Justin Bolen, TJ Hall, Marty Woods & Randy Baker. Honorary Pallbearers include James Whitaker, Warren Rainey & Kenny Wooley.

Mrs. Mary Lee Noles, 98, of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at her home. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Andrew Stokes and Bro. Jacob Harris officiating. Interment to follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Camden. The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Friday from 12:00 PM noon until time of service.
Mrs. Noles was born July 29, 1927, in Holladay to the late Clayton Ellis and Lula Belle Noles. She was a beautician. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntingdon, and also the order of the Eastern Star. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garvin Noles, a son, Kenneth Lee Noles, a brother, Leonard Ellis, and two sisters, Clarice Allen and Nellie Gray Ellis.
She is survived by her son, Keith Noles (Johnnie) of Buena Vista, a daughter-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Noles, of Paris, a sister, Etta Lou Wilks, of Bruceton, and a brother Willard Ellis of Huntingdon. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Kris Noles, Russell Noles, Nathan Noles, Kathryn Carter, Jenny Wilson, Alicia McClure, and Amber Pierpoint, as well as ten great-grandchildren, Ellie Wilson, Luke Wilson, Nash McDonald, Oaklee McClure, Marlie McClure, Sadie McClure, Hudson Pierpoint, Nolan Pierpoint, Weston Pierpoint, and Lewis Carter. O. H. (Shorty) Freeland, age 88, departed this life on Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Shorty was born on September 13, 1926 in Bruceton, TN, the son of the late Ottis Hill and Queen Esther Owens Freeland. Shorty received his nickname as a child due to being the shortest in his class until his senior year.
Shorty was united in marriage to Ann Clair Duren on June 26, 1949. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Adamsville, Tennessee. He served our country in the military and had a remarkable career. A University of Tennessee Knoxville graduate, Shorty, an engineer, served as administrative assistant to Tennessee's 44th governor, Ray Blanton, from 1975-1979. He, along with the 95 county advisory committees, was in charge of hiring and firing for state jobs. In recent years, he wrote the book "Ray Blanton and I," describing their early days as friends up to Blanton's final days in office and later life in great detail.
Throughout his life, he was a Mason, a Shriner, a McNairy County Commissioner, chairman of the Board of Water Commissioners in Adamsville, member of the McNairy County Board of Education, President of the Adamsville Lions Club and served on the board of directors for the Bank of Adamsville. Most recently, Governor Haslam appointed Shorty to the Tennessee Board of Communication Disorders and Sciences.
Shorty and good friend Ron Ashe established F & M Consulting, Inc in 1989 and Shorty worked there as the company's President until his final days. Shorty will forever be cherished and remembered for his honesty, loyalty and kindness. His amazing ability to tell a good story was his true gift.
He is survived by his wife Ann Freeland of Adamsville, TN; his children: Terri Wood and husband Dr. Bob of Mobile, AL, Rev. Ted Freeland of West Monroe, LA, Jana Davis and husband Tim of Luxembourg; grandchildren: Jill Talbert and husband Daniel, Brian Wood, Laura Wood, Barrett Davis, Parker Davis and Grayson Davis; great grandchildren, Audrey and Foster Talbert; and a brother, William Freeland and wife Martha of Bruceton, TN. In addition to his parents, Shorty was preceded in death by a sister, Motelle Cole and a brother, Dr. Doy Freeland.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015, from 11 am until the funeral service at 2 pm, all held at First United Methodist Church in Adamsville, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Adamsville.

Mrs. Peggy Ann Cobb, 83 of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hebron Cemetery. Rev. Jim Cooper and Rev. Dossie Wheatley will officiate the service.
The family will receive friends in the Oakwood room of chase Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:30PM until 9:00 PM and on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church in Huntingdon.
Mrs. Cobb was born May 19, 1926, in Hollow Rock, Tennessee to the late Sid Thomas and Ethel (Walker) Thomas. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Huntingdon and a retired seamstress for Publix Shirt Factory in Huntingdon. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Cobb, three brothers, James Thomas, Mac Thomas, and Earl Thomas, three sisters, Lorene Hill, Birdie Wright Perry, and Mary Campbell.
She is survived by two sons, Mike Cobb (wife Dana) of and Clarksburg, Jerry Cobb (wife Debra) of Huntingdon, three grandchildren, Brittany Foster (husband Colin) of Huntingdon, Ryan Cobb of Clarksburg, and Chelsey Cobb of Huntingdon, two great grandchildren, Justin Beal of Bruceton and Bryar Foster of Huntingdon. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and a special friend, Eldon Nolen of Hollow Rock.

Mrs. Blount, a retired personel secretary for Norondal, Inc., died Thursday at Life Care Center of Bruceton of heart disease. She was married to James W. Blount. Her sister is Mary Ellen Woodward of Buena Vista.
