BRUCETON: Services for Gene Paul Arnold, 69, were at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 6 at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jimmy Allison and Terry Bradshaw officiating. Burial was in Prospect Cemetery.
Mr. Arnold, a retired assistant vice-president of Bank of Huntingdon of Bruceton, died on Tuesday, September 3 at the Med in Memphis. He was born August 7, 1933 to the late Nevil Bowden and Annie Jordan Arnold. He was an army veteran and a member of First Baptist Church in Bruceton.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Marie Petway Arnold; two sons, Mark Arnold and Alan Arnold; a sister, Nellie Jo Butler, all of Bruceton; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

HUNTINGDON: Joe Neal Bailey, 76, died Saturday, December 29, at St. Thomas Hospital. Funeral services were Monday, December 31, 11 a.m. at Huntingdon Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Lynn Stapleton officiating. Burial followed in McAuley Cemetery.
Mr. Bailey was born December 23, 1931 to the late Arden and Tessie Nordin Bailey. He was former owner and operator of Bailey Electric, a member of the Tennessee National Guard and a member of Huntingdon Missionary Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Zelma "Tina" Bailey, and his first wife, Carolyn Sue Bailey.
Survivors include: three sons, Mike (Donna) Bailey of Huntingdon, Ken (Linda) Bailey of St. Louis, Missouri, and Jeff (Deanna) Bailey of Huntingdon; one stepdaughter, Debbie (James) Churchwell of Huntingdon; one stepson, Lynn Blackwell of Huntingdon; one sister, Jane (Wayne) Jackson of Hermitage; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and seven stepgrandchildren.

Mrs. Florence Lee Bennett, 86, was born on Nov.10, 1933 to the late William Roy Bennett and Leoca Rowland Bennett. Mrs. Bennett passed away on July 11, 2020 at Baptist Hospital in Huntingdon, TN. She was a retired secretary for E. I. Dupont.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15th from 5 PM till 8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 16th at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Bruceton Funeral Home. She is survived by several cousins. [Source: Bruceton Funeral Home]

Tom Boyd, 45, vice-president of the Bank of Huntingdon, died at his home at 7:13 p.m. Monday, August 21, 1978, of what was described as an apparent massive heart attack.
Born Junuary 24, 1933, Mr. Boyd was the son of Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Boyd of Vale.
He joined the Bank of Huntingdon as head of installment loan department on Cotober 2, 1967. In February, 1972 he bacame a director of the bank and was named vice-president in 1973.
Mr. Boyd served well in many positions in community life. He was a member of the Board of Aldermen of the town of Hollow Rock, served as chariman of the cancer fund, served on the county airport committee, helped organize the "Trail Ride" las April at Natchez Trace Park, was a member of Prospect Baptist Church and was a Master Mason, Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner.

Vice-President and director of Bank of Huntingdon, Thomas Alton Boyd died of an apparent heart attack suddenly at his home, Monday.
Boyd 45, was on the lawn of his home in Hollow Rock with a friend when he collapsed, said a spokesman from the bank.
His wife, Mary Ann Boyd, was in Illinois at the time with her mother who is critically ill.
Mr. Boyd was employed at the bank as Assistant Vice-President on October 2, 1967. He was elected director on February 23, 1973. Prior to this he was employed by Associates Capital for some 10-12 years.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Huntingdon Lions Club and Prospect Church.
He was also very active in almost all charity projects and rives in the community.
Funeral arrangements were incomplete at press time with Bruceton Funeral Home in charge. Burial will be in New Prospect Cemetery.
Other than his wife, he is survived by one son, Thomas Boyd of Hollow Rock, his parents Mr. and Mrs. E. E. boyd of Vale Community and one Brother John Wayne Boyd of McKenzie.

Mrs. Frensley was born on March 12, 1932 in Bruceton, TN to the late Buford Butler and Sydney Wilson Butler. She was also preceded by her husband of 55+ Wonderful Years, John Wallace Frensley.

HOLLOW ROCK: Josephine Carter Yoder, 72, died Friday, November 3 at Regional Hospital of Jackson. Graveside services were conducted on Monday, November 6 at New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery near the Vale Community with Rev. Jerry Hollingsworth officiating.
She was born May 22, 1934 in Vale to the late George W. "Pete" and Fredda Francisco Carter. She was a partner with her husband in a Laundromat service.
Survivors include: her husband, Harold Lloyd Yoder of Hollow Rock; two daughters, Michelle Marshall of Hollow Rock and Linda Lee Mendoza of Dumas, TX; one son, Tom Boyd of Paris; two sisters, Lois Hudspeth of Paris and Francis Compton of Huntingdon; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Julia Ann "Judy" Waggoner, age: 88 Of: New Johnsonville, TN went home to Jesus on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN. She is now with the love of her life to whom she was married for over 50 years, M. Cooper Waggoner. Mrs. Waggoner was born July 17, 1933 in Hollow Rock, TN.
Judy was a loving wife, mother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00pm on Friday, June 24th at Humphreys County Funeral Home. Graveside Services for Mrs. Waggoner will be conducted at 3:00pm Saturday, June 25, 2022 in Ebenezer Cemetery with Pastor Shawn Thomas Smith officiating. Interment will follow.
Survivors are sons Barry Waggoner (Diana) of La Vergne, TN, Brent Waggoner of New Johnsonville, TN. One brother William Cavender of Paris, TN. Rev. Robert Lee “Bob” Cole, 84, of Lakeland, Tennessee passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Hickory Flat Cemetery in Cedar Grove.
He was born February 17, 1933 in Benton County the son of Hubert Guy Cole and Sarah Gladys (King) Cole of Camden. Where his dad was sheriff for 3 terms and they lived in the county jail. The Coles would often find their son “Bobby” standing in the inmate section with bible open “preaching” to them. When cousins would be there to play with him he would say “let’s play church and I will be the preacher”. His father was also the chief of police in Bruceton during his high school and college years. He was a graduate of the Central High School Class of 1951 where he was voted most likely to succeed and wittiest by his classmates. In June of 1951 he was licensed to preach and given a six church circuit in his area. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1956 from Lambuth College. Rev. Cole’s parents preceded him in death.
Rev. Cole pastored Hickory Flat and Pleasant Hill United Methodist churches in Cedar Grove from June 1958 to June 1963. He and Joyce were Married August 31, 1958 and lived in the Hickory Flat Church parsonage next door to the church and cemetery for years. He was a Boy Scout troop leader in the community. Both Catherine and Cynthia were born while there and it has always been a “special” place for them. Three years ago they purchased lots in the cemetery for all their immediate family and last year a monument was erected near the church building and across the walk from many persons that he was called to officiate their funeral.
He is survived by his loving wife Joyce Ann (Espey) Cole from Huntingdon and three children Catherine Anne Cole of Harbor Town, Memphis, Cynthia Leigh Pickering of Bartlett, and Robert Lee “Chip” Cole II, of the home address in Lakeland He leaves two grandchildren Jackson Hunter Sharp of Memphis and Anna Catherine Sharp who is pursuing a degree in theatre and opera music in Tacoma, Washington.
A Service of Celebration of his life will be held at the St. Paul United Methodist Church on Davies Plantation Road near their home on Friday, October 13 at 4:00 PM with visitation from 2:00 PM until time of service. [Source: Chase Funeral Home]

Mrs. Peggy Sue Cox Pickler, 87, was born on November 11, 1933 in Davidson, Co., TN to the late Charlie Green Cox and Jessie Garland Russell Cox. She departed this life on August 26, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Donald Pickler, a sister Betty Moore and 2 brothers Charles Cox and Warren Russell Cox.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Donna (Gary) Sinclair of Nashville and Angela (James) Stockdale of Hollow Rock. 1 son: Robert Alan (Michelle) Pickler of Powell. 4 grandchildren: Grant Sinclair, Devon Sinclair, Ashley Stockdale and Riley Pickler.

Mr. Edwards, the son of the late Edgar James Edwards and the late Era Greer Edwards Howe, was bom March 9, 1933 in Benton Co. He was an Air Force Veteran and a retired shipping clerk from Norandal. He was married to Doretha Thomas Edwards of Hollow Rock.
Mr. Edwards had a daughter, Teresa Hollingsworth of Jackson, a sister, Peggy Higdon of Bruceton and three brothers, Aaron Edwards and Buddy Howe, both of Bruceton, and Billy Howe of Sherriville, Indiana. Pallbearers who served were: Jimmy Simpson, Joe Jordan Jr., Tim Higdon, Harry Higdon, Terry Thomas, and Warren Smith.

Mrs. Wiser was born January 14, 1933, in Carroll County, to the late William Horbert King and Ollie (Foust) King. She was a retired factory worker of H.I.S., Inc. and a member of the Twin Oaks Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayborn G. Wiser.
She is survived by one daughter, Kim (Hoit) Mitchum of McKenzie; one son, Chris (Cathy) Wiser of Lebanon; one sister, Wanza (Charles) Bond of Bruceton; two brothers, Robert M. Mrs. Hollingsworth was employed by Camden General Hospital as a secretary, and was a member of Bruceton First Baptist Church. She was born May 23, 1933, in Benton County, to the late Dewey Lindell Luther and Lillian Cole Luther.
She is survived by her spouse, Molly Hollingsworth of Bruceton; two daughters, Ellen Hollingsworth Boyd of Olive Branch, Miss., and Amy Hollingsworth Davenport of Horn Lake, Miss.; two brothers, Lindell Ray Luther of Bruceton and Willard E. Luther of Camden.

She was born February 21, 1934, in Carroll County, to the late Henry Zollie Massey and Verda Noles Massey. She was a retired seamstress for the Publix Shirt Corporation and a member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Massey.
Survivors include her husband, L.D. Ellis; a daughter, Sherry Grose; two sons, Johnny Ellis and Danny Ellis, all of Buena Vista; two sisters, Shelby Crocker of Midway and Laura Hallowell of Kingston Springs; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Dwayne Mebane, 78, passed away on Monday, October 10, at his home near Buena Vista. Pallbearers who served were John Parker, Jeff Mebane, Dale Alberts, Mark Totty, Bill Simms, and Steve Parker. Bruceton Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Mebane was born on July 14, 1933, to the late Jerry Baxter Mebane and Willie Chestine Cole Mebane, on his family farm in Buena Vista. He was a carpenter by trade and built many homes throughout Carroll County. He served in the Army in Korea before obtaining his college degree from Bethel College. Mr. Mebane was a member of Bruceton First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Mebane; his former wife, Patsy Fry Mebane; and a son, Hal Mebane.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, the former Mary Virginia Sullivan; four daughters, Terry (Bill) Simms of Tampa, Fla., Kippy (Dale) Alberts of St. Petersburg, Fla., Melissa (Mark) Totty of Camden, and Amy Martinez of Franklin; two special nephews, Brent (Michelle) Mebane and Jeffery (April) Mebane, both of Bruceton; five grandchildren, Evan and Michael Totty, Hannah and Abbey Alexander, and Gabrielle Martinez. Mrs. Lowe was born June 5, 1934, in Carroll County, to the late Clarence L. Smothers and Erma S. Austin Smothers. She was a retired supervisor for H.I.S. Inc. in Bruceton and was a faithful member of Bruceton First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylon Lowe, and three sisters, Juanita Hampton, Sue Tippitt, and Maybelle Blankenship.
