HOLLOW ROCK: Charles Harris Swearingen, 72, died Thursday, May, 10, at his home. Funeral services were Saturday, May 12, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Donnie Craig officiating. Burial followed in Prospect Cemetery.
Mr. Swearingen was born June 13, 1934 in Hollow Rock to the late Clint Herron Swearingen and Eula Lee (Prince) Swearingen. He was a retired iron worker for the Tennessee Valley Authority, served in the Air Force and the National Guard, having duty in Desert Storm, was a member of the VFW post 4349 in Hollow Rock, American Legion Post 175 in Hollow Rock, Masonic Lodge # 288, and a member of Prospect Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Swearingen and Herron "Bud" Swearingen; and two sisters, Frances Compton and Mary Rial.
Survivors include: his wife of 43 years, Betty (Wall) Swearingen; two daughters, Lillian (Tony) Allen of Paris and Rhonda (Russell) Downen of Jackson; one son, Don (Trish) Swearingen of Simpsonville, South Carolina; one sister, Louise Bedwell of Hollow Rock; and seven grandchildren.
