Mr. William Gerald Beaton , 80, was born on August 6, 1938 in Bruceton, TN to the late William Hurdis Beaton and Opal Mae Graham Beaton. Mr. Beaton departed this life on June 17, 2019 at his home. Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 20 at 1:00 P.M. at Bruceton Funeral Home conducted by Bro. Steve Whitworth. Interment followed in Lexington City Cemetery, Lexington, TN.

He was a retired production worker for Milan Arsenal, a member of Bruceton First United Methodist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran.

Besides his parents Mr. Beaton was also preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Howard Claude Beaton.

He is survived by his wife, Virgie Pierce Carver of Camden; two daughters, Valerie Carver of Lenoir, N.C., and Laura Carver of Leesburg, Fla.; and a sister, Norma Hedge of Camden.

James “Sonny” Daniel, 82, of Bruceton, passed away Monday, Dec. 1, at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 5 at Bruceton First Baptist Church. Burial followed at Flatwoods Cemetery with Josh Franks, Jimmy Furr, and Ken Zikrs officiating. Bruceton Funeral Home was in charge of these arrangements.

Mr. James was born on Nov. 4, 1938, In Newport, Ark. to the late James Milton Daniel and Wilma Frances Sheeley Daniel. He was a retired Baptist Minister and he had a strong faith and love for the Lord, his family, and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda Melton Daniel, of Bruceton; one daughter, Kelly (Marty) May of Atoka; one son, James Timothy (Cheri) Daniel, of Bartlett; one sister, Anna Gayle Simms, of Bruceton; one brother, Joe Kenneth Daniel, of Nashville; eight grandchildren, Lindy (Carlos) Abila, Abby May, Rachel Daniel, Katey May, Hope Daniel, Anna Daniel, and Aaron Daniel; and one great-grand-daughter, Chloe Avila. James is a retired Baptist minister. He also worked at H.I.S. during his school days, Tennessee Highway Department, L&N Railroad, and DuPont in Old Hickory over the years. Linda retired from Regional Home Care in McKenzie.

Mrs. Bobbie Jean Dove Hobbs, 83, was born on April 8, 1939, in Memphis, TN to the late Lexie Johnson Dove and Sybil Glisson Dove. She departed this life on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville, TN. She was a member of Bruceton First Baptist Church and a retired school bus driver for Hollow Rock- Bruceton Special School District.

Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by a sister Kathi Dove Woody.

Mrs. Hobbs is survived by 2 Daughters: Jeana James of Bruceton, TN. and Joy Baker of Summersville, W.V. 1 sister: Karen Dove of Bruceton, TN. 1 brother Steven Dove of Texas. 4 grandchildren Corey Odle, Tara Odle , Joseph Baker and Stevie Baker. 3 great- grandchildren: Alyssa Counter, Coby Bradford and Hunter Campbell.

Barbara Ann (Durden) Bunn, 81, of Louisville died on Monday, March 15, 2021 in Nashville, Tennessee following an extended illness. She was born on April 6, 1939, in Bruceton, Tennessee, and was the daughter of the late Willard Durden and Omra Durden Odom.

She was a 1957 graduate of Bruceton Central High School and a longtime member of Valley View Church in Louisville.

Mrs. Bunn was preceded in death by her parents; her son Michael Bunn; two brothers, Frank Durden and Roscoe Durden; and two sisters, Jean Cagle and Brooxie Love.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Dwayne Bunn of Louisville; her son, Robert (Mary) Bunn of Nashville, Tennessee; and a sister, Alice (Neal) Wyatt of Bruceton, Tennessee. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Jessica (Salvatore) Silvano, Colleen (Bradley Schweinhart) Bunn, Emily (Chris) Lee, Robert (Kaitlyn) Bunn Jr., Caleb Bunn, and Lora Bunn; as well as six great grandchildren, Salvatore Silvano Jr., Jayden Lee, Ava Silvano, Lilly Schweinhart, Adalynn Lee, and Waylon Schweinhart.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 19, 2021 at the Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Hwy. in Louisville. Visitation will held 11:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M. Thursday. A graveside service will be held immediately after the funeral at Louisville Memorial Gardens West, 4400 Dixie Hwy. in Louisville.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Pastor Rhonda Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until time of the service.

Mrs. Welsh was born February 6, 1939 in Hollow Rock to the late Murray Gordon Ford and Dorothy Mae (Herrin) Ford. She worked for many years at Central High School.

She is survived by her husband Richard Welsh, a son, Chris Welsh (Anne-Maree) of Hollow Rock, a sister, Katie Lou Arnold of Bruceton, two brothers, Jimmy Ford (Susan) of Hollow Rock and Eli Ford (Lois) of Bruceton. Rebecca G. Peeples of Franklin TN passed on August 30, 2020 surround by her family.

She was born on January 17, 1940 to Gladys and Lewis Gamblin in Bruceton Tennessee.

Rebecca received her MBA from the University of North Florida and spent many years as the chief financial officer and treasurer for the Episcopal Diocese of Florida. She was known for her love of quilting, puzzles and her love of her cats.

Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents Gladys and Lewis Gamblin and her brother, Dwayne Gamblin.

Funeral Services Held Saturday for Rodney Higdon - Funeral services for Rodney Edward Higdon were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Alvin Gillian of Memphis, Rev. J. A. Atchley and the Rev. Frank Madden of Camden officiating. Burial was in the Prospect Cemetery with full military rites at the grave by the Benton County National Guard. Bruceton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Higdon, who was 23, died Thursday at the Kennedy Veterans Hospital in Memphis where he had been a patient since the car in which he was riding overturned near Big Sandy, Sunday. He was enroute home from a National Guard encampment at Fort Campbell, Ky. when the accident occurred.

Mr. Higdon was born in Benton County and had lived in Bruceton since childhood. He was a former football star at Central High School. On August 11, he married the former Miss Shirley Watson.

Besides his wife, he leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Higdon and his paternal grand father, Levi Higdon of Bruceton.

GREENFIELD, TN - Martha Jane Hollingsworth, age 74, died January 14 at Dove Health and Rehab Center in Collierville, TN. Funeral services were January 19 at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock, and Bro. Wendell Johnson officiated the service.

Ms. Hollingsworth was born September 3, 1938 to the late Turner Lee Hollingsworth and Virgie Ann Rowland Hollingsworth in Bruceton. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: J.T. Hollingsworth and James Hollingsworth. She was a retired Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and was a member of Bruceton First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two daughters; Dr. Lesa Karen Edwards-Davidson of Greenfield and Dr. Terri Edwards-Lee of Brentwood, TN; two sisters, Joan Mitchell of MO and Pamela Taylor of TN; three brothers, Ganius Hollingsworth and Molly Hollingsworth both of Bruceton, and Bobby Hollingsworth of TN; five grandchildren.

Billie Joe Jordan died last Saturday, December 22, 1962 at Madison General Hospital in Jackson after a long illness. Funeral services were held Monday, December 24, at the Bruceton Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. J. A. Atchley. Burial followed in the Prospect Cemetery with Dilday Funeral Home in charge. Manager of the Bruceton Motor Parts and Bearing Co., Mr. Jordan was 23 years old at the time of his death. He was a graduate of the 1957 class of Central High School in Bruceton.

Mr. Lowe was born on July 16, 1939 in Carroll County to the late Mr. Leonard Lowe, Sr. and the former Miss Ruby Peale. He was a member of the Bruceton Masonic Lodge #731 and Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha Roberts Lowe; two sons, Todd Lowe and David Lowe, all of Jackson; two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Glisson of Bruceton and Mrs. Veolma Merrell of Jasper; and five brothers, Leonard Lowe, Gaylon Lowe and Gene Lowe, all of Bruceton, Roy Lowe of Hollow Rock, and Ralph Lowe of Camden. He also leaves one daughter: Charlotte “Chi Chi” (Michael) Lee of Paris; two sons: Rick (Sissy) Lowe of Paris and Marty (Christina) Lowe of Camden; a son-in-law: Joe Sanders of Paris; Eleven grandchildren: Carla (Travis) Todd of Lakeland, Emily Lowe, Chris Lee, Lauren Lee, Lucas Lee and Jenna Sanders, all of Paris; Josh Sanders, who is serving in the U.S. Marine Corps; Devon Gaddes, Alexa Lashlee, Madelyn Cole and Katie Cole, all of Camden; Three great-grandchildren: Tate Lee and Jocelyn Lee, both of Paris, and Jack Todd of Lakeland; a brother-in-law: Jack Lovelady of Paris; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, James “Pete” Clark.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Merrell of Texarkana, Arkansas; two sons and daughters in-law, Steve & Rene Merrell of Missouri and Eric & Tracy Merrell of Tennessee; two step-sons, Chris Vickers and David Vickers of Texarkana; two brothers and one sister in-law, Lowell & Reba Merrell of Bruceton, Tennessee and J. D. Merrell of Fayetteville, Tennessee; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services will be 4:00 P.M. Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas with Pastor Mike Ulmer officiating.

Burial will be at the Ashdown Cemetery, Ashdown, Arkansas. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 3:00 P.M. to service time at 4:00 P.M.

BRUCETON: Lyndel Eugene Smothers, 74, died Monday, February 20, 2012 at Life Care in Bruceton. Mass was celebrated Friday, February 24, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Camden with Father Joey Kaump officiating. Burial followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens near McKenzie.

Mr. Smothers was born August 6, 1937 in Buena Vista to the late Delmar Ras Smothers and Alma Odelle Clark Smothers. He was a retired insurance agent, member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, former member of Bruceton Masonic Lodge #731 and Bruceton Order of Eastern Star Adah Chapter #314.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Clara King; and one brother, Sherrell Smothers.
Survivors include: his wife, Patricia Anne Tezak of Bruceton; two daughters, Susan Martin of Glendale, Arizona and Clara Flaming of Denver, Colorado; one son, Kirk Smothers of Broklyn, New York; and five grandchildren.

October 11, 1939 - February 16, 2017

Mrs. Maebelle Smothers Blankenship, age 77, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017. She was a native of Carroll County, TN and daughter of the late Clarence and Erma Austin Smothers.

Mrs. Blankenship is survived by her son, Gregg Blankenship and his wife Beth of Christiana, TN; daughter, Amy Powell and her husband Jeff of AL; grandchildren, Sydney, Ellie, Sarah, and Macy; and sisters, Glenda Sparks of Camden, TN, Mary Sue Tippit of Murfreesboro, and Nelle Lowe of Bruceton, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Blankenship Masoud.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 2:00pm at Evergreen Cemetery.

Ms. Attie Jo Taylor Garton Patterson 81, was born on September 28, 1937 in Yuma, TN to the late Mr. Herbert Ray Taylor and Mrs. Mabra Elizabeth Bawcum Taylor. Mrs. Patterson departed this life on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the Jackson Madison County Hospital in Jackson, TN. Funeral services were held on june 23 at 3:00 P.M. at Bruceton Funeral Home. Brother Billy Joe Hilliard officiated. Interment followed in New Prospect Cemetery, Hollow Rock, TN.

She was a self employed seamstress and a member of Center Point Baptist Church.

Mrs. Marjorie Ann Martin, 83, was born on September 17, 1939 in Bruceton, TN to the late Dudley Dixon Vowell and Lucy Helen Cawthon Vowell.

Mrs. Martin departed this life on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022 at her home in Bruceton, TN.

She was a member of Bruceton Church of Christ , a loving mother, grandmother and a great friend to many.

Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband John Malcolm Martin.

She is survived by 2 sons: Michael(Mindie) Martin of McKenzie and Matt (Michelle) Martin of Huntingdon. 3 grandchildren: Leah (Bobby) Larkin of Huntingdon, Faith (Nathan) Hargrove of Bon Aqua, TN and Blake Martin of Huntingdon. Cremation was chosen. [Source: Bruceton Funeral Home]
