Brenda Dean Johnson, 78, of Camden, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13 at Three Rivers Hospital in Waverly. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 17, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Oakdale Funeral Home in Camden with Audrey Oatsvall officiating. Burial followed at Cowell’s Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson was born Jan. 23, 1940, in Carroll County, to the late Herman Butler and Lila M. Norden. She was a retired business owner and a Baptist in faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Johnson, and a brother, Jerald R. Butler.

She is survived by two daughters, Pam (Jason) Thompson, of New Johnsonville, and Debbie Johnson, of Camden; a brother, E.H. (Glenda) Butler, of Huntingdon; two sisters, Shirley (Paul) McDaniel, of Paris, and Morene (Wayne) Cary, of Bruceton; five grandchildren, Amy, David, Hunter, Hayden, and Buddy, and two great-grandchildren, William and Isabella. Jimmy Wood Butler, age 76, of Bruceton passed away at Jackson Madison County Hospital. Funeral services were held July 19 at Bruceton Funeral Home, with Bro. Steve Davis officiating. Burial followed at Spelling Cemetery near Buena Vista.

Mr. Butler was born March 14, 1940 in Buena Vista to the late Landrum Stanley Butler and Willie Mae Wood Butler. He was a retired manager for HIS outlet store, member of Bruceton First Baptist Church, a past Bruceton alderman, a past volunteer fireman, and a past nominee for outstanding man of the year.

He was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Landrum Butler, and a brother, David Butler.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Loretta Harris Butler; one daughter, Belinda Evans of Bruceton; one son, John (Tammy) Butler of Buena Vista; four grandchildren, Dylan Casteel, Ciara Evans, Will Butler, and Anna Grace Kee; and family members Mary Elizabeth Chambliss and Paul Chambliss.

Mr. Kenneth Frazee, 83, of Buena Vista, Tennessee passed away Tuesday January 23, 2024 at Baptist Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00PM Monday January 29, 2024 in the Chapel of Dilday-Carter Funeral Home. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Brother Matt Jones officiating.

The family will receive friends at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00PM until 5:00PM and on Monday from 11:00AM until 1:00PM.

Mr. Frazee was born July 3, 1940 to the late Oscar Frazee and Edith Haywood Frazee. He was preceded in death by his wife Olivia Frazee. He was a member of the House of The Lord Church in Camden.

He is survived by two daughters Sherry (Robert) Vavra of Buena Vista, Tennessee and Laurie (David) Thompson of Bluffton, South Carolina; one son Matthew Frazee of Laverne, Tennessee; one sister Sue (David Bush) Murray of Hendersonville, Tennessee; five grandchildren Jessica (Ricky) Salazar, Kianna Thomas, Niko Thomas, Grace Vavra and Trevor Thompson; one great-grandchild Navi Salazar.

Bobby Joe Geans, 82 of Hendersonville, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert “Bubba” Geans and parents, Robert and Omegia Geans.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jean Roberts Geans, children; Keith Geans (Lori), Melissa Beacham (Mike), Tina Pipkin (Rusty), Pat Geans (Patricia), Mitch Roberts and Jeanne Hesson, grandchildren; Tabitha Seymour, Kori Geans, Jacqueline Slayton, Clint Beacham, Robyn Estrella, Christopher Pipkin, Kiowa Geans, Skylar Geans, Joshua Roberts, Joseph Hesson and Jonathan Hesson. Bobby is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, his half-sister Barbara Hailey and many extended family and friends.

Bobby was born on May 16, 1939 in Perry County, Tennessee. He was an over the road truck driver for 55 years and retired from YRC Trucking Company. Bobby loved gardening and planting flowers, building bird houses, feeding the squirrels in the yard, being in the outdoors and writing poetry. He was a kindhearted giving man who loved his family dearly.

A celebration of Bobby’s will be at Hendersonville Funeral Home, 353 East Main Street in Hendersonville on Thursday, July 8 at 2 PM. Family and friends will gather from 12 PM until the hour of the service. Bobby will be laid to rest following the service in Hendersonville Memory Gardens, Garden of the Cross.

The following will serve as Pallbearers; Kori Geans, Clint Beacham, Christopher Pipkin, Kiowa Geans, Mike Beacham and Jeremy Seymour.

Norman Thomas, 66, a resident of Montgomery died peacefully September 8, 2006 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Cristy and sons Tom (Traci) and Tim (Beth), and grandchildren Abbey, Aaron, Dean, and Rebecca.

Norm was born Jan. 12, 1940, in Bruceton, Tenn., the only child of Mike and Eunice Herndon. He was a graduate of the Univ. of Tenn. (Martin) and served 4 years in the Air Force before working for the Dept. of Defense as a computer systems analyst for 36 years. While serving in the Air Force in Alaska, he met Cristy, who was teaching school in Anchorage.They married in 1966 and later moved to Montgomery.

He was devoted to his family, and his life was centered around them. He enjoyed coaching Tom and Tim's Little League team for many years, and enthusiastically followed their years playing high school golf and tennis. He was a 25 gallon Red Cross blood donor and participated in the Apheresis program until he became ill with Pick's Disease, a rare form of dementia. He worked several years fo Habitat for Humanity and served as an elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Norm's body has been donated to UAB's Anatomical Donor Program in hopes the research will be of benefit to others in the future.

There will be a memorial service Sunday, September 17, at 3:00 PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Thank you to Odyssey Hospice for their care especially to Teresa Matthews and Karen Smith and to the wonderful caregivers and staff at Country Cottage Assisted Living. Della Ann Watson, 74, of Camden, passed away Sunday, Oct. 26, at Select Specialty Hospital in Knoxville. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Oakdale Funeral Home of Camden with Billy Hilliard officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ms. Watson was born March 4, 1940, in Davidson County to the late Herschel Hilliard and Pearlie Cary Hilliard. She was a retired manager for Omni Vision Company and a member of Natchez Trace Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Oberlin Johnson and Lillian Dillingham, and two brothers, Bobby and James Hilliard.

She is survived by two daughters, Annette (Johnny) Belisle, of Camden and Gail (Craig) Parker, of Knoxville; two sons, Roy Dale (Angie) Watson and Ronnie Watson, both of Camden; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Norman (Martha) Hilliard, of Huntingdon, Billy (Norma) Hilliard, of Bruceton, and Terry Hilliard, of Texas; and two sisters, Sue H. Virgil O. Kee 42, retired employee of Louisville and Nashville Railroad died Saturday, May 6 at Carroll County General Hospital after a long Illness. Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, May 9 at Dilday Funeral Home. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M.O. Kee of Buena Vista and two brothers, William M. Kee of Camden and Lucian Kee of Buena Vista.

Mr. Charles Estes Kizer, 67 of Hollow Rock, passed away Friday, November 25, 2005 at his home. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, November 27 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Crossroads Cemetery in Benton County. Bro. James Daniels and Bro. Steve Davis officiated the service. Pallbearers who served were: L. M. "Tip" Lowe, Jimmy Simpson, Gene Lowe, Dan Young, Steve Parker, and John Parker.

Mr. Kizer was born June 16, 1938 in Henderson County to the late Joseph Woodrow Kizer and Marie (Finch) Kizer. He was a retired track repairman for the CSX Railroad Company, an Alderman for the town of Hollow Rock, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Bruceton.

He is survived by his wife, whom he married December 22, 1972, Ruby (Cole) Kizer, three daughters, Melissa Hughes (Peter), of Camden, Cheryl Pickering (DeWayne), of Paducah, Ky., Kimberly Holland, two sisters, Betty Johnson (Bill) of Bruceton, Sue DiPova (Bob) of Alphartta, Ga., and one brother, Jim Kizer (Jan) of Union City. He also leaves four grandchildren.

Services for Bobby Joe Larkins, 47, of Bruceton, were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home in Camden with Rev. Orville King officiating. Burial was in Camden Cemetery. Mr. Larkins, a truck driver, was dead on arrival Friday night at Benton Community Hospital.

His mother was the late Louise Webb Larkins.

He is survived by his wife, Rena French Larkins; three children, Bruce Larkins, and Daryn Larkins, both of Bruceton, and Barry Larkins of Hollow Rock, his father, Tannie Larkins of Camden; one sister; Linda Lowe of Hollow Rock and one granddaughter.

Danny Ray Laws, 53 of Bruceton died Wednesday; August 25 at Valley Regional Hospital in Camden. Danny was born February 17, 1940 to the late Mr. Murray Elliott Laws and Mrs. Helen Hunt Haskins Laws in Jackson.

Mr. Laws was a maintenance worker for Conalco and a member of Bruceton First Baptist Church. Services were held Friday August 27, at 2 p.m. at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with burial in New. Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock.

He is survived by a daughter, Vicki Laws, and a son, Vince Laws, both of Memphis; a brother, Glamis Laws of Hollow Rock, and two grandchildren.

Burial in McAuley Cemetery in Buena Vista, Tenn. Oakdale Funeral Home was in charge of Arrangements. Mr. Matheny passed away November 11, 2004, at his residence.

Mr. Matheny was born January 21, 1939, in Buena Vista, Tenn., to Claude Robert and Hattie Pinkston Matheny both deceased.

Mr. Matheny is survived by two daughters Angie (Dallas) Wade, of Camden, and Teresa Matheny, of Delong, Ind.; one sister Linda Sanders, of Camden; one brother Bob Matheny, of Buena Vista; and six grandchildren, Josh Oatsvall, Krystal Anderson, Tyler Anderson, Anna Wade, Jeremiah Allen and Joey Douglas.

Wilma Kilmon age 76 of Castalian Springs passed away Tuesday morning, June 16, 2015 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be Friday June 19th at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home with Pastor Fred Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Gallatin Cemetery with Josh Scull, Trey Napier, Logan Johnsey, Steele Johnsey, Chad Bruce, Eddie Noles and John Anderson serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Thursday June 18th 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. until service time. Honorary Pallbearers are, Doug McIntyre, Al Lopez, John Czachowski, Terry Elmore, Omer Mayo, Terry Robertson, Joe Bradshaw and Bill Powell.

She retired from Ford Glass Plant, and had an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.

Wilma was born in Carroll County, TN, March 18, 1939, daughter of the late Gertie and James E. Noles. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Danny Noles and step-son Mike Kilmon.

She is survived by her husband Maxey Kilmon, three children, Susan Johnsey Napier of Gallatin, Sheila Johnsey Scull and husband Mark of Gallatin, Buddy Johnsey and wife Angenette of Watertown, seven grandchildren, Josh Scull (Rachel) of Knoxville, Shantara Scull of Murfreesboro, Courtney Napier Bruce (Chad) of Portland, Trey Napier of Portland, Aerial Johnsey, Logan Johnsey and Steele Johnsey all of Watertown, brother, James Eugene Noles (Carolyn) of Pegram, sister Judy Carol Noles Czachowski (John) of Knoxville, three great grandchildren, Lane, Hallie and Lawson Bruce, two step-children, Jimmy Kilmon (Holly), Rosanne Kilmon and step daughter-in-law Brenda Kilmon, two step grandchildren, Jessie Kilmon Chandler (Ricky), Lori West Forshee (Kevin), five step-great-grandchildren, Jaden Spears, Jake and Rachel Forshee, Jacob Chandler and Taylor Gregory all of Franklin, KY, Special friends, Karen Agee, Janice Anderton, Beverly Mayo, Pat Lopez and the Sisters in Christ Sunday School Class at Impact Fellowship Church.

Charles Wray Prince, 63, of Ripley, died Friday, November 21, at Baptist memorial Hospital-Lauderdale, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Srevices will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 25, at McEvoy Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Caledonia Baptist Church Cemetery, McKenzie, . Dr. Gary S. Collier will officiate.

Mr. Prince, son of the late Brother Ernest Fred Prince and Mary Lyndal Wilson Prince, was born November 18, 1940, in Hollow Rock. He was employed as a correction officer, rank of Corporal, with West TN Maximum Security Prision in Henning for over eight years. He was a Navy Veteran early in the 1960's and was a Baptist. He was preceeded in death by a son, Michael Robin Prince.

He is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Prince of Mayfield, Kentucky; four sons, Mark A. Prince, of Springville, Kevin Wray Prince of Ripley, and Ernest Jeff Prince of Mayfield, Kentucky; five sisters, Evelyn (Jack) White of Smyrna, Sue (Glenn) Todd of Clarksburg, Virginia Cherry of Paris, Rachael (Jeff) Bowden of Paris and Joyce (Jimmy) Hale of Parkers Crossroads; and ten grandchildren.

Darnell “Sad” Scott, 73, of Camden, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, at his residence. Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Oakdale Funeral Home of Camden with Leonard Greer officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant Hill Methodist Cemetery. Masonic services were held Thursday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Scott was born July 12, 1940, in Bruceton, to the late Vernon Scott and Vivan Webb Scott. He was a Benton County Commissioner for the 4th District, was the owner of Five Star Restaurant
and DJ’s.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, V.A. Scott and Paul Scott.

He is survived by two sons, Timothy (Shirley) Scott, of Humboldt, and Mike (Karen) Scott, of Camden; a daughter, Michelle (David) Taylor, of Camden; three brothers, Bob (Linda) Scott and Joe Ted (Ruth Ann) Scott, both of Bruceton, and Kiley Scott, of Middlesboro, Ky.; a sister, Shirley Plummer, of Cunningham; five grandchildren, Brent, Caleb, Ryleigh, Raegan, and Jake, and a great-grandchild, Chandra. Mr. Billy Dyer “Bill” Sills, 78, of Jackson, Tennessee passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Jeremy Brown, Eld. Scott Holloway and Eld. Charles Johnson officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Marlboro Cemetery.

Pallbearers who will serve are Andrew Sills, Brad Sills, Peyton Sills, Adam Sills, Jackson Sills and Steve Spahr.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until time of service.

Due to the current pandemic conditions and the family’s concern for the health and well-being of others, the family has requested that those in attendance, at the visitation and funeral service, please wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Mr. Sills was born June 17, 1942 in Bruceton, Tennessee to the late Willie and Callie (Stagner) Sills. He graduated from UT Knoxville with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, was a pitcher on the baseball team, was the owner of Bill Sills Sportswear in Huntingdon, and was an Elder and Founder of Journey Church in Jackson. He dedicated his life to teaching and preaching about his savior Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Maury Sills, one daughter, Cindy Pickens (Chris), two sons, Billy Sills (Gina), and Eric Sills (Regina) all of Jackson. He also leaves ten grandchildren, Emily Sills, Andrew Sills, Brad Sills (Erica), Peyton Sills, Adam Sills, Madison Sills, Jackson Sills, Kristen Pickens, Kallie Pickens, Suzanna Pickens. Born August 15, 1940 to Mr. Delmar Ross Smothers and the former Ms. Alma Odell Clark, he was employed by Dupont in New Johnsonville, TN. and a member of the First Baptist Church in Bruceton. Services were conducted Thursday, August 25, 1988, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Bro. Leon Edwards officiating. Burial followed in Carroll County Memorial Gardens. Bruceton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Delois Smothers; two daughters, Ms. Shannon Smothers and Ms. Sherrie Smothers, both of Bruceton; his mother, Mrs. Alma Odell Smothers of Bruceton; one sister, Mrs. Clara King of Bruceton; one Brother, Mr. Lydell Smothers of Dallas Texas. Pallbearers were Mr. Steve Parker, Mr. John Fuller, Mr. Phillip Park and Mr. Buddy Smothers.

NEW JOHNSONVILLE: Mary (Tillie) Turner, 67, formerly of Bruceton, died Tuesday, August 28, at Three Rivers Hospital in Waverly. Memorial services were Tuesday, September 4, at 10 a.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in New Johnsonville with Father David Yancey officiating. The body was cremated.

Ms. Turner was born July 12, 1940 in McEwen to the late Ward Wesley Turner and Agnes Bridges Turner. She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church.

Survivors include: two sisters, Peggy Hailey of Nashville and Rosemary Rooney of Globe, Arizona; and one brother, Frankie W. Turner of Bruceton. Bruceton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. [Source: McKenzie Banner]

Hugh David White, 79, passed away on December 6, 2019. He was born in Hollow Rock, TN and retired from the US Navy.

Mr. White as predeceased by his son, David Michael White and is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Frances White; 2 daughters: Debbie Sheets and Pam Laster; 6 grandchildren: Brian DeMaggio, Chris DeMaggio, Kelsea Barbas, Cody Sheets, Jared Laster and Jessica Laster; 5 great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.

Ronald Richard Williams 71, of Germantown, TN died Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Methodist University Hospital. Ron was a Godly Christian and longtime member of Germantown Baptist Church and the Miller Sunday School Class. Originally from Bruceton, TN Ron graduated from University of Tennessee College of Engineering and Vanderbilt University where he received a Masters of Engineering. Ron was P.E. with The Reaves Engineering Firm until his retirement in 2009. He was well-known as an avid train enthusiast and toy train collector. He enjoyed sharing his train hobby with others.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary; twin brother, Donald Williams (Sandra) of Jackson, TN; sister, Barbara Lee (Jerry) of Hardy, AR; daughter, Christine Ramsey (Brett) of Carmel, IN; son, Scott Williams (Sabrina) of Cordova, TN. He also leaves 3 loving grandchildren: Maryrose, Caroline, and Grant and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 3rd at the Memphis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 4th, at the Memphis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made benefiting the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association or Germantown Baptist Church. Services for Newburn Edwin Woods, 57 of Bruceton were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 1995, at Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home in Camden. Burial followed in Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock.

Mr. Woods, an employee of the Sanitation Department for the City of Bruceton, died Monday, September 11, 1995, at his home of a massive heart attack.

He is survived by his wife Treva French Woods, of Bruceton; two sons, Michael Woods of Camden and Terry Woods of Bruceton. He also leaves a sister, Madeline Mitchell of Camden and a brother, Malcolm Woods of Hollow Rock. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Woods.

Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
