NADINE BALLARD TURNER 1941 - 1999 Nadine Ballard Turner, 58, of Bruceton, died Tuesday, March 9, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. Services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at Bruceton First Methodist Church. Rev. J.C. Featherston officiated. Burial was in Eastview Cemetery near Camden. Bruceton Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Turner, the daughter of the late Jessie and Beulah Lee Gray Ballard, was born January 16, 1941, in Bruceton. She was a housewife, a member of Bruceton First Baptist Church, and a member of Bruceton Order of Eastern Star Adah Chapter #314. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Maggie Ballard-, and a brother, Connie Ballard.
She is survived by her husband, Frankie W. Turner; a daughter, Kathy Hunley of Huntingdon; a son, Keith Turner of Denver, Colorado; a sister, Louise Shelton of Knoxville; and a grandson, Justin Turner Hunley of Huntingdon. Pallbearers who served were Robert Keeton, III, Ben Hill, W.T. Ellis, Troy Smothers, Jimmy Butler and Billy Butler

Mrs. Turner, a homemaker, died Tuesday at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville of cancer. She was born January 17, 1941 in Bruceton to the late Jessie and Beulah Lee Gray Ballard. She was a member of Bruceton First Methodist Church and Bruceton Order of Eastern Star, Adah Chapter #314.
Survivors include her husband, Frankie W. Turner; a daughter and a son, Kathy Hunley of Huntingdon and Keith Turner of Denver, Colorado; a sister, Louise Shelton of Knoxville and a grandson. She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother, Maggie Ballard and Connie Ballard. Bruceton Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

James Robert Bouldin Jr., 79, of Paris, formerly of Bruceton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, at AHC Health Care in Paris. Graveside services were held Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 1 p.m., at Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock with Joel Edwards officiating. Bruceton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bud Brown, 72, of Cedar Grove, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Dilday – Carter Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the McCauley Cemetery. Brother Jim Holt will officiate the services.
Mr. Brown was born February 1, 1940, in Buena Vista, Tennessee, to the late William Clifton “Tuff” Brown and Lula Mae Kee Brown. He was a retired employee of Proctor and Gamble and a member of the National Guard.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, June Brown, a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Susan Brown, of Leach, Tennessee and a sister, Joyce (Jack) Lee, of Hendersonville, Tennessee. He also leaves two grandchildren Barbara Brown and Keith Brown.
Pallbearers who served were Clarence Noles, William Keith Brown, Justin Turner, Dennis Kelley, Wilburn Maness and John Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers who served were Donald Russell, Ronney Lee and R. C. Hilliard.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 PM till 9 PM at Dilday – Carter Funeral Home and on Thursday from 9 AM till time of services.

Mr. James David Jimmy Garvey, 73, of Bruceton, passed away Thursday, March 12, at Camden General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 15, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Bruceton Funeral Home. Military honors were held at the gravesite in Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock. Bro. Terry Bradshaw officiated. Pallbearers who served were Larry Williams, Jimmy Simpson, Buddy Smothers, Derrell Robinson, David Garvey, and Jeff Harris.
Mr. Garvey was born on May 22, 1941, in Lexington to the late James Olden Garvey and Nelle Kathryn Kennedy Garvey. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a retired laborer for Porter Cable Company, a member of Bruceton Masonic Lodge #731, and a member of Bruceton First Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Garvey.
He is survived by a daughter, Taba Katherine (Jimmy) Karna of Murfreesboro; two grandchildren, Kella Catherine Karna and Kennedy Clarie Karna; and a very special friend and companion, Adrienne Phillips of Waverly. [Source: Carroll County News-Leader]

Claude (Bob) Matheny, 64, of Buena Vista, died Monday, November 22, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Graveside services were held at McAuley Cemetery in Buena Vista.
Mr. Matheny, the son of the late Claude Robert and Hattie Lee Pinkston Matheny, was born on March 5, 1940, in Carroll County. He was an employee of Terry Trucking and a member of the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Matheny. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Box Matheny; and a sister, Linda Sanders of Camden.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Ralph Edward Pierce, 66, died Tuesday, December 18, at his parent’s home in Bruceton. Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 20, at Crossroads Baptist Church near Camden with Rev. Arzell Douglas and Rev. Randy Thompson officiating. Burial followed at Crossroads Cemetery. Pallbearers who served were Hillard Collins, Doyle Stockdale, Ronnie Smothers, Allen Pierce, Leavurn Kee, and Ray Higdon. Honorary pallbearers were Norman Hillard, Gary Pierce, Kenny Sherrod, and Rick Hill. A Masonic service was held at 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, December 19. Bruceton Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Pierce was born on February 23, 1941, in Benton County. He was a security guard for DuPont, a member of Crossroads Baptist Church, and a member of Bruceton Masonic Lodge #731.
He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Pierce. He is survived by his parents, Dewey and Odell Pierce of Bruceton; a sister, Virgie Carver of Camden; two nieces, Valerie Carver and Laura Sherrod; and two great-nieces, Olivia Carver and Claire Carver. [Source: Carroll County NEWS-LEADER]

Mrs. Carole Virginia Snyder Lowe, 82, departed this life on December 23, 2023 at the Health Center at Richland Place in Nashville. She was born on June 3, 1941 in Bruceton, TN to the late William Howard Snyder and the late Winifred Marie Snider Snyder. Mrs. Lowe was a retired assistant school Psychologist for the Camden School System and a member of First Baptist Church in Camden, TN. Her best days was spent taking care of her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph D. Lowe and one brothers Robert Snyder and an uncle James Berry Snider.
She is survived by one daughter Paige (Matt) Kisber of Nashville. One son Don (Ronda) Lowe of Knoxville, TN. Two grandchildren Kate Kisber and Harrison Kisber both of Nashville. One brother Darryl (Pat) Snyder of Melbourne, Florida. One aunt Marie Snider of Bruceton.

Bruceton-Youth Dies of Wound - Vernon.H. Spencer 18, an appointee to the United States Military Academy at West Point, accidentally killed himself in his; home Friday morning. Spencer was found by his aunt, Mrs. W. E. Brower, when she brought him his lunch about 11 Friday morning. Sheriff Scarbrough; said, he was lying on his bed with a bullet hole in his right temple. The pistol was at his feet. There, was only one shell in the pistol. After an investigation, his death was listed as probably accidental.
Spencer was a top student at the Bruceton High School and had been captain of the high school's football team. He made Who's Who at the school and was a member of the Beta Club. He was president of the senior class when he was graduated in June of this year. He would have entered West Point in June 1960. He had attended Castle Hieghts Military Academy and University of Tennessee Martin Branch.
He was born at Potts Camp, Miss. and was a member of the Methodist Church. He leaves his mother, Mrs. Wilma Spencer, a brother, Larry Spencer and two grandparents. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bruceton Methodist Church. The Rev. Donald Moorehead officiated. Burial was An the New Hope .Cemetery:. near Yuma.

BRUCETON — Funeral services for Ralph Ernest Thorne, Jr., 74, of Bruceton were Friday, May 6 at Bruceton First Baptist Church with burial in Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock. He died May 3 at Jackson-Madison County Hospital.
He was born June 19, 1941 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Ralph Ernest Thorne, Sr. and Mrs. Evelyn Gracie Sawyer Thorne. He was the former manager of TDS Telephone in Hollow Rock/Bruceton and a former Bruceton aldermen.
Survivors include: his wife, Barbara Kaye Thorne; three daughters, Carrie (Tim) Lowry of Senatobia, Miss, Kim (Ricky) Isbell of Barlett, and Christy (Jim) Nabors of Collierville; and one son, Bryan (Dana) Thorne of Jackson; five sisters, Ruth Anna (Phil) Dame, Kay Huddleston, Joyce Wood, Linda Rose, and Ida (Joel) Edwards; three brothers, Wayne (Barbara) Thorne, John (Lisa) Thorne, and Ken Thorne of Medina; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
