James Larry Mitchell
September 11, 1943 - November 1, 1998
James Larry Mitchell, 55, of Nashville, died Sunday, November 1, after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his father, John G. (Jack) Mitchell, of Bruceton, in 1980. Requiem mass for Larry was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ, the King Catholic Church, by Bishop James Niedergesses and Rev. Stephen Kenny. Internment was at Calvary Cemetery in Nashville. Marshall Donnelly Combs was in charge of the arrangements.
He was born in Nashville, September 11, 1943, graduated from Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School Class of 1961. He received his B.S. degree in 1964 and his Master in Math in 1965, from George Peabody College. He began his career in Nashville as a teacher In math at Eat High, Montgomery Bell Academy and U.T. Nashville. In 1969, he joined IBM, where he stayed until his death.
Larry is survived by his wife, Mary Evelyn Beuerlein, who he married in 1965, in Lawrenceburg; a son, Mark Mitchell, and his wife, Amy, of Nashville; a daughter, Elizabeth Mitchell of Nashville; his Mother, Pauline (Polly) Wherry Mitchell of Bruceton; a brother, john G. (Jack) Mitchell, Jr. of Knoxville; two sisters, Theresa Pollock of North Canton, Ohio, aid Cecilia Nye of Knoxville; a niece, Meredith M. Lidster of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; two nephews, Rob and Ben Nye, both of Knoxville; two uncles, Joe Mitchell of Bruceton and Lloyd Wherry of Columbia; three aunts, Margaret Hurt of Martin, Julia Herof Livonia, Michigan, and Bernice Rochelle of Centerville; a host of cousins, in-laws, friends, neighbors and co-workers, who loved him dearly.
Pallbearers were Jerry Laquiere, Miriam Rochelle, Ray Weatherspoon, All Henson, Jerry Scott, Bob Jenkins, Walter Brink and Dave Kuhlman. Source: Carroll County NEWS-LEADER
