Sgt. James Harry Franklin, 24 of the U.S. Marine Corps, died Friday, July 18, in Richmond North Carolina, Military services sere held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Dilday Funeral Home. Rev. Haynes Lankford officiated. Burial was in Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock.
He Leaves his mother, Mrs. A.T. Griffin of Ong Beach, California and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Jones of Bruceton.

Mr. C.L. "Jimmy" French, 77, was born on June 18, 1943 in Trion, GA. to the late Carlos Lee French, Sr. and Sally Mae Reese French. He departed this life on January 26, 2021 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. He was a retired conductor for CSX Railroad and member of Faith Baptist Church.
Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister Ann Richardson.
Jimmy was a avid Indian Relic collector. He loved searching for arrowheads, all Indian Relic, fishing for fun or competing in a tournament and hunting . He the loved the outdoors, whether out by the goldfish in his back yard ,in his wife's flower beds or on the lake. He was a people person who enjoyed talking and meeting new folks. He will be missed by his family and his friends.
Mr. French is survived by his wife of 60 years: Carol Sue Allison French of Hollow Rock 2 daughters :Elizabeth Reeves of Nashville and Angie Vaugh of Jackson. 4 grandchildren: Heather (Todd) Blevins of Jackson, Dereck French of Nevada, Brittany Shutes of Jackson and Anna Vaugh of Franklin . 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will Friday, January 29 at Faith Baptist Church in Hollow Rock. Visitation will be Friday for 11:00 am till 12:45 pm at which time the family has requested a private funeral service. Wanda Faye Foster, 72, of Bruceton passed away Wednesday, August 31 at her home near Vale. Graveside services were held in Marlboro Cemetery, with Joe Abbott officiating.
Mrs. Foster was born June 20, 1944 in Vale to the late Lindon L. Green and Ada Odell Ownby Green. She was a member of Marlboro Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Dale Foster; a sister, Annie Marie Dolan; and a brother, George Ernest Green.
She is survived by her two sons, Ashley Dale Foster of Bruceton and Roger Brian (Angie) Foster of Dyersburg. Pallbearers were Donnie Hall, Brent Dolan, Randy McMacking, Eddie Dupree, Steve Green, and Tommy Clifton. [Source: Carroll County News Leader]

Mr. Ronald Lee Joyner, 79, of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Sunday December 31, 2023 at AHC-Lexington.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00PM Thursday January 4, 2024 in the Chapel of Dilday-Carter Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hampton Cemetery. Brother Scott Carter officiating.
The family will receive friends at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00PM until 7:00PM and on Thursday from 11:00AM until 1:00PM.
Mr. Joyner was born February 16, 1944 to the late Robert Lee Joyner and Clara Mae Barnes Joyner. He married the love of his life and wife of almost 42 years, Wanda Kay Joyner, on March 17, 1981. He was preceded in death by his wife, his brother Timothy Wayne Joyner and his best friend J.R. "Mutt" Hill. He served his country and was honorably discharged by the US Air Force. He was Ronnie to his stepchildren, Pa to his grandchildren, and treated them all like they were his own.
He is survived by three sons and a daughter: Jeff Beaty, Jeremy Beaty, Ronald Lee Joyner II, and Sylvia Beaty, all of Henderson County, Tennessee; one sister Bobbie Carey of Richmond, Kentucky; one brother James Edward (Sue) Joyner of Idaho Falls, Idaho; two grandchildren, Jake Beaty and Zack Beaty; nieces and nephews Kimberly Petreman, Carrie Baker, Michelle Vaught, Scotty Joyner and James Edward Joyner II. Howard Stephen Joyner, Jr. "Steve", age 72, recently passed away unexpectedly in Camden, TN.
Steve was born on September 29, 1943 in Buena Vista, TN. He loved music and played lead guitar with various bands, most recently with the "Classics". He retired from ACTWU. Steve was an active volunteer at First Cumberland Presbyterian in Camden, as well as, attending and playing music for the First United Methodist Church in Camden.
He was preceded in death by a son, Chris Joyner; parents, Howard S. and Helen Joyner.
Survivors include his daughter, Amy (Cal Jr.) Cartwright; granddaughters, Claire Bousquet and Adair Cartwright; grandsons, Joyner Bousquet and J Calvin Cartwright; a friend, Sandra Joyner Beal.

Betsy Reed Maddox Engles died peacefully and with a smile on her lips Sunday night Aug. 19th 2018 at 10:30 PM with her husband, son and daughter by her side. She died at home after seven months of several severely painful surgeries and illnesses, in and out of several hospitals and rehab facilities.
She was preceded in death by her father Thomas Reed Maddox, mother Ruth Ella Bayless Maddox, and her son Thomas Edward Engles. Betsy had three children, two sons Joe and Thomas born in the 1960s and a “surprise” when daughter Leah came along 15 years later. Betsy was a wonderful mother, always involved with school and church activities of the children as they were growing up.
She attended Central High School in Bruceton, Tennessee, Murray State College in Murray, Kentucky, Baptist School of Nursing and Springdale Votech Truck Driving School, Springdale, Arkansas. Betsy spent her adult life a devoted companion to John. Always totally involved in their ventures. With John she flew airplanes, owned and managed a full service Truck Wash and Diesel Fuel Facility.
They farmed and had cattle three separate times where she was always involved in doing the hard work: pulling calves, milking the goats, working cattle and feeding in winter. They had a Flight School where she fueled planes, managed the schedules and ran the office. As a CDL truck driver she spent several years as a team driver for Bulkmatic traveling from coast to coast, into Canada and down to Mexico. In high school she was a friendly and natural leader serving as the chief majorette and drum major for the high school band.
She is survived by her husband John of the home, her two children Joseph Engles of Springdale, AR and daughter Leah Blackwood (Merlin) of Ethridge, TN; five grandchildren: Thomas Engles, Rylie Blackwood, Cason Lee Blackwood, Orry Blackwood and Clarissa Huntley. At Bruceton Funeral Home, Bruceton, TN, a visitation was held from 4-8 PM on Saturday Aug. 25th. The funeral was held at the Bruceton Funeral Home at 2PM Sunday Aug. 26th followed by burial in Camden City Cemetery [Source: Carroll County News-Leader]

Mr. Neal passed away Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at his daughter’s residence in Cookeville. Ray was born in Bruceton, Tenn., Tuesday, June 6, 1944, to the late Camilla Fay and Raymond Lawrence Neal. He married the love of his life, Judy, on Nov. 27, 1964.
Mr. Neal is survived by a daughter, Elaina McGuire and Donald; son, Greg Neal and Alicia; two grandsons, Sam McGuire and Christopher McWhorter; three granddaughters, Megan McGuire, Brittany McGuire and Savannah Neal; one brother, Jerry Neal and Martha; three sisters, Frances Stringer and Harlon, Carolyn Noles and Eugene and Judy Hurt and Kendell; and sister-in-law Pat (Neal) Ballard.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Neal is preceded in death by his wife, Judy, and brother, Robert Neal.

Mr. William Darryl Snyder, 79, departed this life on August 11, 2024 at his home in Rockledge, FL. Darryl was born in Bruceton, TN on October 13,1944, to the late Wm. Howard Snyder and the late Marie Winfred Snider. Mr. Snyder was a retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant, who continued his career after retirement with Civil Service for the Air Force from Feb.1985 till Dec. 2007.
Mr. Snyder was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Marie Snyder, a daughter Suzanne Snyder, a sister Carole Snyder Lowe and a brother Robert Snyder.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Patricia Snyder of Rockledge FL. One son: Bradley (Tara) Snyder of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Two grandchildren : Audrey and Vivien.
