Nicki C. Faust, 70, of Bruceton, passed away Tuesday, May 8 at Vanderbilt Hospital. Funeral services were held May 11 at Bruceton Funeral Home. Burial followed at Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock. Pallbearers were Jeffery Moore, Alex Woods, Ted Faust, Dan Johnson, Gary Brewer, and Jake Johnson. honorary pallbearers were Kelsey Faust, Brian Walters, Jeff Belisle, Gary Smith and Larry Spencer.

Mr. Foust was born January 19, 1948 in Bruceoton to the late Mr. Wheatley Faust and Mary B. Mizell Faust. He was preceded in death by a sister, Daranell Cole.

He was a Methodist in faith. He was an avid fisherman and was happiest on Kentucky Lake. He enjoyed carving and hand painting duck decoys and appreciated the beauty of waterfowl. He loved all things related to nature. He was a retired sales manager and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Greengrass; a daughter, Meg (Dan) Johnson of Santa Claus, Indiana; brother, Ted (Terri) Faust of Brentwood; five grandchildren, Jake Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson, Brennah Johnson, Addison Johnson, Katie Foust; nieces and nephews, Susie Belisle, Kelsey Faust, Annie Jensen, and Moses Greengrass; and beloved great-nieces and nephews. Jim D Harris passed away on September 9, 2020, after a brief struggle with dementia. He was born November 19, 1948 and raised in Dickson, TN until moving to Bruceton, TN and graduating from Central High School in 1966.

He attended the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he obtained a BA in English. He began his career in Human Resources in Tennessee, but his talents and ambitions carried him around the country to Florida, Kentucky, Illinois, Connecticut, Louisiana, as well as the United Kingdom and on other adventures around the globe before returning to his home in Middle Tennessee, where he was a longtime employee of HCA in Nashville.

His career continued with stops including Dubai, West Virginia, and California. He had recently retired to Wilmington, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Spencer and Clara Harris, and his brother Clint Hugh Harris.

He is survived by his loving companion Frances Humphrey; his children Duff (Jenni) Harris, Sara (Chance) Oliver, Kate (Ben) Hazlewood; his eight grandchildren Mar’a, Liam, and Meg Harris, Grace, Emma, and Kennedy Oliver, and Sam and Jack Hazlewood; his sister Sue Wright; niece Stephanie (Mike) Tatum and nephew Spencer Harris. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Martha Harris, and the brothers of his beloved Phi Sigma Kappa.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dickson Union Cemetery. Family and friends will speak.

Joseph Lucian Herndon died on Sunday afternoon, August 8, 2021, of complications from cancer and chemotherapy in The Villages, Florida. Born in Camden, Tennessee on November 14, 1948, he was the second child of Joe Ted Herndon and Anita Hicks Herndon of Bruceton, Tennessee.

He attended school in Bruceton, college at University of the South Sewanee, and graduated with a Masters from Columbia University. A historical preservationist by trade, his resume is studded with extensive rehabilitation projects from around the globe — Old Spanish Fort(1730) in Pascagoula, Mississippi; Qasr Ibrihim (1600's) in Hoffuf, Saudi Arabia; the Old Post Office (1897) in Washington, D.C.; The Rugby Colony (1880's) in Rugby, Tennessee; Union Station (1900) in Nashville, Tennessee; The Germantown neighborhood revitalization (1840's) in Nashville, Tennessee; The Biltmore Hotel (1926) in Miami, Florida and numerous others.

He was a member of the Catholic Church and a great friend to all who knew him. His parents and only sister, Karen Herndon Miller of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, predecease him.

Survivors include his daughter, Meredith Alexa Little of Nashville, Tennessee, and his two sons, Elliott Otto Jepson of Nashville, Tennessee and Gabriel Anthony Herndon of Miami, Florida. His life-time friend and brother-in-law, Dr. Thomas Miller of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, and his two children, Dr. Bryan Thomas Miller and Elizabeth Miller. He also leaves behind his beloved fiancé Geri Mataya of The Villages, Florida.

Funeral services for Johnnv Holladay, 18, were at 2 n. m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. J. A. Atchley officiating. Burial was in Prospect Cemetery with Bruceton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Johnny died Saturday at Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas where he had been undergoing treatment. He was injured August 29, 1964 in a football game at Jackson. He graduated May 6, 1966 from Central High School as an honor student. He had completed his schooling at home.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Holladay of Bruceton and a brother, Jimmy Holladay of Nashville

Two identifiable players are North Side's Bobby Galloway (43) and Bruceton's Johnny Holliday (26). Later in the game Holliday was seriously injured andremoved to the Jackson-Madison County Hospital. North Side won the game 20-6.

Services for William Stephen Hurley III, 39, of Bruceton, were at the Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, at 3 p.m. with Bobby Snider officiating. Burial was in Prospect Cemetery. Mr. Hurley died Saturday, July 25, at the St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, after a long illness. He worked as a shipper at H.I.S. in Bruceton. He was the son of the late William Stephen Hurley II.

He is survived by his mother, Carolyn R. Hurley of Bruceton; one brother, Brad Hurley of Nashville; and his grandmother, Bertha Hurley of Mayfield, Kentucky.

Services for Charles Brent Jackson, I, 47, of Bruceton were at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 1995, at Bruceton Funeral Home. Burial followed at Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock.

Mr. Jackson was born on June 19, 1948, to Mrs. Joan Lusk of Bruceton and Mr. William Floyd Jackson of Kalkaska, Mi, who survive. He was employed as a pipe fitter.

He is survived by two daughters; Stacy Jackson, of Hollow Rock, and Brandi Whitfield, of Camden; and one son, Charles Brent Jackson II, of Hollow Rock. He also leaves three-sisters, Cheri Birdwell, of Hollow Rock, Judith Caruso and Cathy Barker both of Roseville, Mi.; three brothers, William Scott Jackson, of Warren, Mi., Robert Guy Jackson, of Roseville, Mi., and James Wade Jackson, of Germany. He also leaves two grandchildren.

Mrs. Gayle Lampley Simms, 75, was born on August 5, 1948 to the late Hulon Henslee Lampley and Wilma Frances Lampley. She was a retired assistant accountant for TSSAA. She was loved and will be missed by many.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Cal Simms and two brothers Bro. James "Sonny" Daniel and Rickey Bowker and her step- mother Anna Lampley.

She is survived by two sisters Betty (Rick) Toombs and Pam (Ronnie) Williams . Two sister-in-laws Linda Daniel and Guian Bowker. A niece Kelly (Marty) May and a nephew Tim (Cheri) Daniel.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested all donation be made to Bruceton First Baptist Church 30960 Broad St. Bruceton, TN. 38317 .

Gary Wallace Powley, 56, of Paris, died Friday, January 14, at Henry County Medical Center. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 16, at First United Methodist Church with Randy Stephens, Roger Banks, John Dale and Rev. Guy McCombs officiating. Burial followed in the Memorial Cemetery in Paris. Pallbearers serving were Bart Herbison, Rick Moody, Gaines Hedges, Brent Greer, Daryl Stalls, David Noles and Jimm Guarino. Honorary pallbearers were Larry "Sea Gull" Whitledge and Kenny Deel. Ridgeway Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Powley was born December 12, 1948, in Hollow Rock. He was a broadcaster/salesman for W.T.P.R. and W.A.K.Q. radion station for 13 years, a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam Era, being stationed in South Korea light arms infantry. He was interested in the community, participating in Helping Hands, Relay for Life and many other other organizations.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Powley; and a sister, Diane Rogers. He married Patty Bowden on May 11, 1984, who survives. Other survivors include his mother, Irene Starks Powley of Hollow Rock; three sons, Crispin (Jennifer) Powley of LaVergne, Dylan Powley of Paris, and Damon Nash of Goodlettsville; a daughter, Shyanne (Michael) Frazee of Woodstock, Georgia; and a sister, Denise (Ricky) Umstead of Huntingdon. Mrs. Sheryl Jean Tolbert Sandefur, age 76, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024 after a long term illness. She was born in Murfreesboro to the late Ashley Tolbert, Sr. and Mary Allen Tolbert.

Sheryl spent most of her growing up years in Bruceton, TN where she was a 1966 graduate of Bruceton Central High School. She then went on to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin. Sheryl worked at Vanderbilt University in Nashville for many years. She retired as a payroll clerk for Rutherford County Government.

Sheryl was a long-time member of Northside Baptist Church and made many wonderful friends there. She loved her close-knit family of six siblings along with their spouses, children, and grandchildren. Sheryl loved nothing more than watching all her nieces and nephews grow up and pursue each of their individual areas of interest.

Sheryl is survived by her siblings, Diane Wright, Allen Tolbert and his wife Rena, Spencer Tolbert and his wife Nola, Debbie Wallace and her husband Steve, Kathy Hendrix and her husband Gary, and Cindy Basham and her husband Ron; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Sandefur.
