Mrs. Cheryl Lynn McCormick, age 68 of Dyer, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Sunday, April 26, 2020, at home. Graveside services for Mrs. McCormick will be conducted on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Bobbitt Cemetery with Bro. Tony Smith officiating. Interment immediately will follow. Due to the health and safety for the family, and general public, we are implementing the guidelines and Executive Orders of the President and Governor. We thank you for your understanding.

She was born May 18, 1951, in East St. Louis, IL; the daughter of the late Lloyd & Lois Smith Tucker. She was a loving mother and grandmother; and member of Dyer Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her children, Stacie Fernandez (Jayson), Cheri Draper (Bradley); siblings, Najie Culley, Ronnie Stovall; five grandchildren, Sunny Green, Jon Adam Green, Aubree Green, Ace Young, Cash Young; four step grandchildren, Jayleigh Draper, Bradson Draper, Hudson Fernandez, and George Fernandez. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ricky Dale McCormick, and her parents.

BUTLER, JOSEPH LANDRUM, M.D., 57, of Vestavia Hills, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 8, 2008. He was born July 17, 1951 in Martin, Tennessee, son of the late Howell G. Butler and Nellie Jo Arnold Butler.

He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee-Martin and of the University of Tennessee School of Medicine. Following a fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, he began practice at the University of Alabama at Birmingham until leaving to begin his private practice in allergy and asthma. He was a member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church, and was devoted to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as well as his family. His selfless giving to others endeared him to all who knew him, and he leaves many family and friends to mourn his loss. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, listening to bluegrass and blues, playing and collecting guitars, and of course, reading his many books.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carol Hollingsworth Butler; two children: James Landrum Butler and wife Sara of Monroe, Louisiana, Jennifer Butler Acuff and husband Seth of Vestavia Hills; and three grandchildren: Jackson, Maxwell and Zachary. He is also survived by his mother, Nellie Jo Arnold Butler, and sister, Jan Elizabeth Butler, both of Bruceton, Tennessee. Visitation will be at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, beginning at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 11, 2008. A graveside service will follow, beginning at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to Arthritis Foundation at www.arthritis.org.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Devault, 70, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021.

She was born on March 13, 1951 in Huntingdon, TN to the late Edward Lee Cary and Nomel Jean Fuqua Cary.
She was a retired EMT for Hardeman County.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband David Sherman Devault, her daughter: Selena Beth Devault and her son Jeremy Steven Devault. She is survived by a sister: Pam (Mike) Gallimore of Bruceton. 2 brothers: Steven (Patti) Cary of Hollow Rock and Mark (Ellen) Cary of Medina. A host of nieces , nephews and great nieces and nephews. Numerous close friends.

Mr. Stephen “Steve” Lee Cook, 67, of Hollow Rock, Tennessee passed away Wednesday July 17, 2019 at Camden General Hospital.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Brett Mebane officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Prospect Cemetery.

Pallbearers who will serve are Ashley Cook, Lee Cook, Tyler Cook, Herschel Bailey, Jaxon Cook, Allen Eubanks, Daniel Eubanks, and Hayden Williams.

The family will receive friends in the Oakwood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of service.

Mr. Cook was born October 22, 1951 in Lexington, Tennessee. He worked for Carroll County Electric Department as a Lineman, a member of Twin City Community Church, and served as Mayor of Hollow Rock for two terms. He is preceded in death by his father, Everett Lee Cook.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debbie Cook, two sons, Ashley Cook, Lee Cook (Lauren), both of Hollow Rock, his mother, Ann Cook of Bruceton, one sister, Cathy Butler (James) of Bruceton, and one brother, Perry Cook (Alberta) of Camden. HOLLOW ROCK: Services for David Sherman Devault, 53, were at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 13 at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roy Hayes officiating. Burial was in Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock. Military rites were conducted at the gravesite. Mr. Devault, a retired section foreman with CSX Railroad, died on Wednesday, November 10 at his mother’s farm near Hollow Rock.

He was born April 21, 1951 in Hollow Rock. He was an army veteran, past local chairman for the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way, former fire chief and alderman for the Town of Hollow Rock.

Survivors include his wife, Beth Cary Devault; his son, Jeremy Devault of Hollow Rock; his mother, Virginia Devault of Hollow Rock and a brother, Danny Devault of Bruceton.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wade Maurice Devault; a daughter, Selena Devault and a brother, Mark Devault.

Mr. Pinkston, an iron worker for Commercial Construction, was born September 24, 1951, to the late Stevenson Thomas Pinkston and Lola Louise Flanagan Pinkston of Bruceton. He was also a United States Marine. He died on December 23, 1995 sustained in an automobile accident near Jacksonville, North Carolina.

He is survived by his daughter Rebecca Haley of Cedar Grove; his sister, Mrs. Carol Fowler of Milbourne, Florida, and two brothers Steve Pinkston of Bruceton and Kenneth Pinkston of Lebanon. He also leaves two grandchildren. Bruceton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Turner; a daughter Rosa Dabbs (Jason); a son, Rex Terry Turner, Jr. all of Hollow Rock; a sister, Marlyn Poniatowski of Michigan. Mrs. Carolyn Sue Evans Aylor, 71, departed this life on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She was born on December 1, 1951 in Bruceton, TN to the late Rhea Ernest Evans and Minnie Marie Evans Hill. She was the retired manager of Qmart in Bruceton and a member of Bruceton First United Church.

Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by a grandson Zachary Knuutila.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years Jan Wyatt Aylor of Bruceton. One daughter Breya Aylor of Bruceton. One brother Joe (Nulek) Evans of Georgia. 3 grandsons Seth (Olivia) House, Isaiah (Samantha) House and Cody (Katy) Knuutila. 2 great-grandchildren Rylee Knuutila and Ivy House .
