WILLIAM BOYD FRISTOE 1921-2010

BRUCETON: William Boyd Fristoe, 89, died Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Jackson Hospital. Funeral services are Thursday, July 1, at Bruceton Funeral Home at 4 p.m. with burial in Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock.

Mr. Fristoe was born March 19, 1921 in Bruceton to the late Marie and A. Frank Fristoe. After receiving a degree in agriculture from the University of Tennessee, he served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Following the war he served several years as an agriculture agent in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. This was followed by several years working as an insurance adjuster. After retirement he spent many years living with and looking after his parents in Bruceton.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Juanita; and two half-sisters, Eva and Ava.

William Fristoe of Bruceton, TN, died at Jackson Hospital on June 27, 2010. Mr. Fristoe, the son of Marie and A. Frank Fristoe, was born on March 19, 1921 in Bruceton.

After receiving a degree in Agriculture from the University of TN. Bill served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Following the war he served several years as an agriculture agent in Poplar Bluff, MO.

This was followed by several years working as an insurance adjuster. After retirement and he spent many years living with and looking after his parents in Bruceton. He was an avid gardener and always had an over supply of all kinds of vegetables -- canning many of them over a wood fire in the backyard. He also loved to observe the martins birds providing them with many gourd houses made from the gourds he cultivated.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Juanita and two half sisters, Eva and Ava. He is survived by numerous cousins who loved him dearly; a nephew, Gary Haynes of Knoxville, who visited him regularly; a niece, Linda Byrd of Birmingham, AL (both children of his sister, Juanita); a brother-in-law, Virgil Haynes and his wife, Dorothy of Oak Ridge, TN. He will also be missed by his local neighbors and friends that he had made over his long time residency in Bruceton.

Visiting will be from 2 to 4 PM with a service at 4 PM Thursday at the Bruceton Funeral Home followed by Interment at the Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock next to his parents.
