John Leslie Moore, 78, of Waverly, died Thursday, December 25. Services were held on Sunday, December 28, at Humphreys County Funeral Home with Bro. Joel Nulty and Bro. Eddie Hopkins officiating. Burial followed at Richlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Moore, son of the late Johnny Ernest Moore and Mertie Pierce Moore, was born on March 23, 1930, in Carroll County. He was retired from DuPont, a member of Bascom Methodist Church, a member of Woodmen of the World and American Legion, and also served in the Army National Guard.
He was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny Lee and Patricia Diane Nix Moore.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Everett Moore; a son, Kenny Moore of Iuka, Mississippi; a stepdaughter, Deborah A. Smith of Jackson; a sister, Norma Fowler of Camden; a grandson, Chad Moore; two great-grandchildren, Caleb Lee Moore and Caden Hall Moore; three step-grandchildren, J.T.
