Sammie Joe Cole
June 26, 1941 - January 1, 2017

Sammie Joe Cole, 75, of Humboldt and formerly of Bruceton, died Jan. 1 at his home. He was a chief dispatcher for CSX Railroad for 39 years. A memorial service was held Tuesday, Jan 3, 2017 in the chapel of Bruceton Funeral Home at 1 p.m. with Dr. Greg McFadden and Bro. Steve Davis officiating. Cremation was chosen with the final resting place at Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock. Grandsons and a great grandson were the pallbearers.

He was born in Bruceton on June 26, 1941 to the late Lenzie Clarence Cole and Gerline Minell Park Cole. He was a member of Humboldt First Baptist Church, Bruceton Masonic Lodge No. 731, and was an army veteran. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Young and Joan Lusk; and three brothers, Allen Cole, Daniel Cole, and Ronald Cole.

Survivors include: his spouse, Joye Knight Cole of Humboldt; four daughters, Tammie (Stacey) Hollingsworth of Paris; Alesia Osborn of Huntingdon; Carol (Brent) Rice of Buena Vista and Julie (Chris) Finley of Bruceton; two step sons, Ben Underwood of Clifton of Clifton; and Bert Underwood of Miami, Florida; one brother, Jerry Cole of Eva; 12 grandchildren, Bethany and Tyler Hollingsworth; April (Bryan) Baker; Dan (Courtney) Guinn; Ryan Guinn; Abbie and Wyatt Osborn; Parker and Ava Finley; Shane, Stone and Austin Underwood; two great grandchildren, Branson and Lily.
