Alice Jean Thorne Grooms

Alice Jean Thorne Grooms, 57, of Memphis, passed away Thursday, February 3, at her home. Services were held on Sunday, February 6, at the Bruceton First Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Hebron Cemetery. Rev. Roy Jones and Rev. Jerry Smothers officiated the services. Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Grooms was born October 2, 1942, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was a loving mother, a faithful wife, a listener, a teacher, and an inspiration to all who knew her. She loved the church, her family, and the Lord, whom she is with today.
She is survived by her husband, Gene Grooms; her parents, Ralph and Evelyn Thorne of Bruceton, two sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew Thomas & Helene Grooms of Memphis and Stephen Eugene & Angie Grooms of Lakeland; five sisters, Ruth Anne Dame of Chaffee, Missouri, Kay Huddleston of Springdale, Arkansas, Joyce Wood and Linda Rose, both of Memphis, and Ida Edwards of Bruceton; four brothers, Ernest Thorne of Bruceton, Wayne Thorne and John Thorne, both of Memphis, and Ken Thorne of Jackson; and a granddaughter, Alexandria Caroline Grooms of Memphis.
