Patrick Demond Hicks

Patrick Demond Hicks
June 24, 1972 - September 5, 2020

Patrick Demond Hicks was born on June 24, 1972 to Lester and Deborah Hicks in Hollow Rock, Tennessee. With his best friend and wife, Rosalyn, by his side, Patrick departed this earthly life on September 5, 2020, to be with his heavenly Father.

Patrick accepted Christ at the age often years old and was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Hollow Rock, Tennessee where his grandfather, the late Reverend Lonnie Grimes, Sr. was the pastor. He later joined First Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee under the leadership of Pastor James McCarroll until his transition from this earthly life.

Patrick received his education in the Hollow Rock-Bruceton School District and graduated from Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School in 1990. He was an All-State football player and a key component of the 1989 State Championship Football team. Patrick was also a starting offensive lineman in the Kentucky-Tennessee All-Star game following his senior year.

Patrick attended Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) from 1990-1994 where he studied Criminal Justice. He was a member of the MTSU Blue Raider Football team where he was an All-American starting offensive lineman. Patrick displayed a fierce and God-fearing spirit during every football game and in 1993, he was recognized as a Kodak American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-American.

Patrick was acknowledged for his outstanding athletic achievements throughout his lifetime and was inducted into the Carroll County Sports Hall of Fame in 2015. He was also inducted into the MTSU Sports Hall of Fame in 2016.

Patrick started his career soon after college and worked for BFI Waste Systems of Tennessee. Thereafter, he became an Engineer at CSX Transportation and was also employed at Bridgestone Americas, Inc.

Patrick, lovingly known as "Pat", was a passionate and devoted husband, father and friend. His main objective in life was to provide for his family and to love others. Every individual that crossed paths with Patrick would encounter his witty sense of humor and could feel the love in his heart. His tranquil presence will never be forgotten. Despite his extended illness, he was a fighter and he never lost his faith in God.

Patrick was preceded in his death by his grandfather and grandmother, Reverend Lonnie Sr. and Helen Grimes; grandmother, Alma Jean Teague; and father, Lester Hicks.

Patrick leaves to cherish his memory: devoted wife, Rosalyn Hicks; daughter, Jasmine Hicks; son, Jaden Hicks; mother, Deborah (Wade) Hicks-Allen of Hollow Rock, Tennessee; mother-in-law, Gladys Jones of Chattanooga, Tennessee; brother, John (Kathryn) Grimes of Paris, Kentucky; aunts, Joyce (Charlie) McClerking of Huntington, Tennessee, Sandra (James) Alexander of Memphis, Tennessee and Callie Vanessa Grimes of Nashville, Tennessee; uncles, Lonnie Grimes II ofSt. Charles, Missouri and Elder Dwight (Yvette) Grimes of Terrell, Texas; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and many other loving relatives and devoted friends.
