Dwayne Mebane
July 14, 1933 - October 10, 2011

Dwayne Mebane, 78, passed away on Monday, October 10, at his home near Buena Vista. Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 13, at Bruceton First Baptist Church with Brother Brett Mebane officiating. Burial followed at Prospect Cemetery. Pallbearers who served were John Parker, Jeff Mebane, Dale Alberts, Mark Totty, Bill Simms, and Steve Parker. Bruceton Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Mebane was born on July 14, 1933, to the late Jerry Baxter Mebane and Willie Chestine Cole Mebane, on his family farm in Buena Vista. He was a carpenter by trade and built many homes throughout Carroll County. He served in the Army in Korea before obtaining his college degree from Bethel College. Mr. Mebane was a member of Bruceton First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Mebane; his former wife, Patsy Fry Mebane; and a son, Hal Mebane.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, the former Mary Virginia Sullivan; four daughters, Terry (Bill) Simms of Tampa, Fla., Kippy (Dale) Alberts of St. Petersburg, Fla., Melissa (Mark) Totty of Camden, and Amy Martinez of Franklin; two special nephews, Brent (Michelle) Mebane and Jeffery (April) Mebane, both of Bruceton; five grandchildren, Evan and Michael Totty, Hannah and Abbey Alexander, and Gabrielle Martinez.
