He was born on December 16, 1942 near Enville, TN in Chester County. He was the son of the
late Lee and Pauline Robison. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leon
He graduated from Adamsville High School in 1960 and then enrolled in Lambuth College in
Jackson, TN. He graduated from there in 1964 with a degree in Biology. He began his
teaching career at Central High School in 1964. He received his Master in Education from
Murray State in 1968.
In 1966, he married Betty Rowland and she began her teaching career in Bruceton. Together
they taught over 75 years touching the lives of many young people in the area. He was known
in the classroom for his toughness, fairness and humor.
Larry had many interests, antique cars, tractors, gasoline engines, telephones and clocks.
He enjoyed going to antique shows with his family and talking about antiques with his
He and Betty were widely known in the area for their “Robison Peaches” the best you could
buy, they sold on the highway in front of the school and home delivered many more. He loved
to hear people brag about his peaches.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Betty Robison; two sons, John Robison and wife Beth
of Medina and David Robison and wife Tonya of Bruceton. He also leaves five grandchildren,
Nathan, Grant, Katie, Ben and Jake.

Mrs. McMackins was born September 16, 1936 in Zach, TN the
daughter of the late William Elliott and Floy (Patterson) Hurt. She was retired from the
Cafeteria at Central High School and a member of Prospect Baptist Church. She was preceded in
death by Four Brothers and One Sister.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gene Robert
McMackins; a son, Russell McMackins of Chesapeake, Virginia; daughters, Amy Jo Hollingsworth of

Irene Elizabeth Starks Powley, 94, of Huntingdon, formerly of Hollow Rock, passed away Thursday,
September 29 at Life Care Center in Bruceton.
Powley was born August 22, 1922 in Hardin, Ky. to the late Charley Harrison Starks and Eldora
Smith Starks. She was a member of Bruceton Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Powley; a daughter, Dianne Powley Rodgers; a
son, Gary Powley; and three brothers, Buell, Dwayne, and Quinton Starks.
She is survived by a daughter, Denise (Ricky) Umstead of Huntingdon; five grandchildren, Crispin
Powley, Shyanna Frazee, Dylan Powley, Shane Umstead, and Colton Umstead; and four

Avis loved the outdoors, playing games, and
hanging out with friends. She was the owner/operator of Kaevelle Massage and was a member of the
Mosaic Church. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and clients.

BRUCETON — Funeral services for Cody Gipson, 30, of Bruceton were Saturday, April 2
at Bruceton Funeral Home. Interment was at New Prospect Cemetery.
Gipson died March 30, 2016 in a traffic accident. He was the manager of Bob’s Used

Richard Cody Gipson, 30, of Bruceton, was killed Wednesday morning
in Huntingdon when the pickup truck he was driving was hit by a train, according to the
Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The accident was reported about 8:40 a.m. at Highway 70 and Northwood Drive.
Michael Williams, a spokesman for Kentucky-West Tennessee Railway, which owns the
train, said the accident happened when Gipson tried to cross the railroad
tracks. The Highway Patrol report says Gipson was driving west on Northwood across the tracks.
"Our condolences go to the driver's family and loved ones," Williams said.
Williams said preliminary information indicates the train's horn and bell were sounding prior to
the crash, and data that is downloaded from the train would be needed to confirm that.
The train was traveling from Bruceton to McKenzie with two locomotives and 17 empty cars. The
two men who were on the train are being offered counseling, Williams said.
Williams said reports of fatalities involving trains emphasize the need for driver safety at

Mr. Jesse Ray Leaver, 21, of Bruceton, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, at McKenzie
Regional Medical Center. Services were conducted at noon on Thursday, Feb. 26, at First
Baptist Church in Bruceton. Cremation followed. Bro. Lonnie Hollingsworth officiated.

Mr. Leaver was born on Feb. 19, 1994, in Paris to Mr. Eddie Alan Leaver and Shelly Marie Leach
Leaver. He was a Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School graduate and a Bethel University junior.
He was a member of Bruceton First Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting, playing basketball,
baseball, and co-ed softball.

Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 1
p.m., at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church with Wallace Cunningham officiating. Burial followed at Old

Mr. Foster was born Jan. 12, 1982, to Steve L. Porter, of Paris, and Juanita Foster King, of
Bruceton. He was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his maternal
grandmother, Georgia Foster. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Steven
McClerkin, of Nashville; two sisters, Shontoria Foster, and Heather Vasquez, both of Bruceton;
paternal grandmother, Mattie Porter, of Paris; stepfather, Bruce King and step-grandmother, Ollie

Timothy Ray “Tim” Lowe, 36, of Erin, formerly of Hollow Rock, passed away Sunday,
March 16, at Three Rivers Hospital in Waverly. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 19,
at 2 p.m., in the chapel of the Brucet on Funeral Home with Joe Abbott and David Steppee
officiating. Burial followed at the Marlboro Church of Christ Cemetery near Vale.
Mr. Lowe was born Dec. 13, 1977, in Huntingdon, to Jimmy
R. Lowe and Judith Nolen Lowe, of Hollow Rock. He was a quality
inspector for Magnum Manufacturing, and a member of Marlboro Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Michelle Swafford Lowe; two
stepdaughters, Kaylee R. Sawyer and Zoey E. Sawyer, and a stepson, Chance
M. Wigdor, all of Er i n; two sisters, Pam (Casey) Corder,
of Buena Vista, and Shonda (Shannon) Walters, of Hollow Rock; and several nieces and
