Doris Marie Arnold

Bruceton, TN
Mrs. Doris Marie Arnold, 91 of Bruceton, TN passed away on
Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Life Care Center of Bruceton. Mrs. Arnold was born on July 3,
1933 in Paducah, KY to the late Artie Owen Petway and the late Mary Mable Alvey Petway.
She
was also preceded in death by her husband, Gene Paul Arnold, granddaughter Mary Arnold Brown,
six brothers and five sisters.
Mrs.
Arnold retired from Hollow Rock Bruceton Central High School serving 32 years as a teacher’s
assistant. She was also a member of First Baptist Church in Bruceton.
Survived by sons, Alan Arnold and Mark (Melissa) Arnold both of Bruceton, TN, seven
grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and three great great
grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 10:00-2:00 pm at
Bruceton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm with Bro. Larry Jo Ivy officiating.

Carolyn Mae Bond - Retird Teacher's Aid
October 18, 1940 - December 7, 2022
Mrs. Carolyn Mae Horton Bond, was born on October 18, 1940 in
Memphis, TN to the late Larry Ester Horton and Alla Mae Lane Horton. Mrs. Bond departed this
life on Wednesday, December 7 , 2022 at her home in Bruceton.
She was a retired Teacher's Aid for Hollow Rock -Bruceton Special
School District and a member of Camden United Pentecostal Church.
Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by one sister
Shirley Siglin and one brother Lloyd Allen Horton.
She is survived by her husband James Paul Bond of Bruceton of
Bruceton. Two sons: Paul Michael (Mary) Bond of Jackson and Bryan Scot (Mary Ryan) Bond of
Bruceton. Four grandchildren : Justin David Bond, Stephen Michael ( Brittany) Bond Austin James
(Kailey) Bond and Macey Elaine Bond and ( Hunter Bynum). 3 great-grandchildren: Abbigail
Bond, Teely Bond and Teyton Bond.
Visitation will be held on Friday December 9th from 5:00 PM till

Mr. Troy Smothers, 94, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the Baptist
Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Mr. Smothers was born on March 21, 1927 in Camden, TN to the
late Albert H. Smothers and Mary Emma Kee Smothers.
Mr. Smothers was a retired salesman for Midway Nissan in Paris, TN and a member of
Huntingdon First United Methodist Church.
Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Mary Jo Smothers, a grandson
Brett Blankenship , a great granddaughter Madison Blankenship, 3 sisters Lucille Brewer, Odelle
Cunningham, and Ruth Svoboda also 5 brothers Leon Smothers, Lloyd Smothers, Dennis Smothers, Dallas
Smothers and Bobby Smothers.
Mr. Smothers is survived by One daughter Kathy (Joe T ) Wood of Lexington . One son
Keith (Janie) Smothers of Bruceton. 4 grandchildren Bart (Rachel) Blankenship, Weston Wood, Jessica
(Luke) Foster and Robin Hart. 8 great-grandchildren: Hope Blankenship, Belle Blankenship,
Bentley Blankenship, Jude Blankenship, Haden Mitchell, Abby Quinn, Sawyer Hart and Trace
Foster.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 31 at 1:00pm at Bruceton First Baptist Church.
Visitation at Bruceton Funeral Home will be held on Sunday, January 30 from 3:00 pm till 7:00
pm and on Monday from 9:00 am till 12:45 time for departure for the church. The family has

Mr. Mark Anthony Campbell, 32, of Bruceton,
Tennessee passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Camden General Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday,
November 14, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Larry DePriest
officiating. Interment will follow on Campbell Family Cemetery in Bruceton.
The family will receive friends in the Oakwood
Room of Chase Funeral Home on Saturday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Sunday from 11:00 AM until
time of service.
Mr. Campbell was born March 29, 1989 in
Huntingdon, Tennessee. He was self-employed as a mechanic.
He is survived by one daughter, Angel Jolynn
Campbell, his mother, Lisa Campbell and father, David Platt, all of Bruceton, five brothers,
Michael Campbell, Brent Cole, both of Bruceton, Jeffery Platt of Nashville, David S. Platt and

Cyclist lost
in fatal
crash by Angela Jones
On Wednesday, Nov. 10, a collision at the intersection of Highway 70 and
Highway 641 in Camden between an SUV and a motorcycle resulted in the untimely death of the
cyclist. At 5:31 p.m., the 2017 Ford Edge SUV driven by Judy Thornton, 68, of Holladay, and
the 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Mark Campbell, 32, of Bruceton, collided
while travelling on Highway 70. Both drivers were injured in the crash. Air Evac was called
to transport Campbell, but he was unable to survive the trauma he sustained and expired at
the scene. Thornton reportedly was examined at Camden General and
released.
The Camden Police Department and the Tennessee Highway Patrol both worked the scene
of the accident, with THP taking charge. The Camden Fire Department assisted in setting up a
landing zone for the Air Evac helicopter. The THP preliminary report noted that Thornton was
wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident, and Campbell was wearing a helmet. Neither driver

Tennessee passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021 at TriStar Summit Medical Center in
Nashville.

Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Boyd
officiating. Interment will follow in Jamison Cemetery.

Mr. Knuutila was born September 23, 1992 in
McKenzie, Tennessee. He was a transportation broker. He was preceded in death by his paternal
grandparents, Jack and Alice Knuutila and maternal grandfather, Steve Persico.
He is survived by his finacee’, Laci Dean of
Hermitage, his father, James Stacey Knuutila (Breya) of Bruceton, his mother, Tamara Knuutila of
Ridgely, maternal grandmother, Susan Torres of South Carolina, one sister, Lacie Smith of Ridgely,
three brothers, Cody James Knuutila (Katy) or Martin, Kevin Isaiah House of Bruceton, and Seth

Mr. Corey Devaun Hampton, 23, passed away on Thursday, May 20,
2021 at his home. He was born on August 7, 1997 in Jackson, TN to Patrick Neal Hampton and
Jennifer Ann Emerson. He was an employee of Wagner Construction.
He is survived by his wife :Samantha Nicole Hall Emerson of
Bruceton, His mother: Jennifer Ann Emerson of Huntingdon, 2 daughters: Bayonet Emerson and
Shavon Emerson. 1 son: August Emerson. 2 brothers: Quinton Hampton of Humboldt, TN and

Mr. Michael Preston Young, 26, departed this life on April 27, 2021
in Portland, Oregon. He was born on January 6, 1995 in Jackson, TN to Dan Young and Tonya
Stone Young Hardin. He attended and graduated Hollow Rock-Bruceton Special School District and
farther his education at University of Tennessee at Martin where he received his Bachelor
Degree in Psychology. Preston worked for Carey Counseling Herrington Place in Camden before
moving to Portland, Oregon in July of 2019. In Oregon he worked for Housing
Independence.
He was preceded in death by his parental
grandparents Bill and Carolyn Young.
He is survived by his parents Dan (Jenna)
Young of Medina and Tonya (Ronnie) Hardin of Camden. One sister: Autumn (Jonathon) Lancaster of
Collierville. 4 brothers: Kordell Young of Knoxville, Mac Hooten, Bryce Hooten and Jaxon Young all
of Medina. Grandparents: Noel and Etta Mae Stone of Camden and Jennie Nunamaker of Jackson. One
niece: Charlotte Lancaster . 2 Uncles: Mitchell (Billie) Young , Buddy (Marilyn) Stone. 5 aunts:

Michael Preston Young, 26, of Portland, Ore.,
formally of Bruceton, passed away Tues-day, April 27, in Portland, Ore. Funeral services were held
May 2, in the chapel of Bruceton Fu-neral Home with Brett Mebane officiating. Burial followed at

Harold Allen Eugene Stevens, 29, passed away Tuesday, April 14.
He was born on Aug. 1, 1990, to Michael Williams and Penny Ann Williams.
He is preceded in death by his father, Michael Williams and a brother, Shawn Creek.
To cherish his memories and their memories with him he leaves behind his grandmother, Joyce
Richardson of Huntingdon, his mother, Penny Ann Williams of Huntingdon, three brothers: Richard C.
(Maleea) Mitchell of Camden, Shane (Jessica) Creek of Nashville and Alvin (Katie) Jenkins of
Lexington; two nieces: Karslen Creek of Nashville and Camilla Jenkins of McLemoresville; five
nephews: Lanston Mitchell and Chandan Mitchell, both of Camden, Mason Jenkins of Lexington, Carson
Creek and Bentley Creek of Nashville. He also leaves behind a host of Family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 26, at 4 p.m. in the Smyrna Church parking lot.

Ms. Mills was born April 11, 1990 in Jackson, Tennessee. She was a beautician at The Salon
on Main in Camden, Tennessee. She also worked with color guard at Hollow Rock-Bruceton
Central High School. She volunteered in several different organizations with her children and
community. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Charles “Wennie” Lowe and
paternal grandparents, James Kenneth “Shorty” and Lavern Bennett.
She is survived by one daughter, Jaycee Ryan Mills, one son, Kipp Ryder Mills, her parents,
Barry and Teresa Bennett, all of Bruceton, maternal grandmother; Linda Burchum (Jim), grand uncles
and aunts, Jimmy and Brenda Bennett, Lynn and T. C. Lowe, and Michael Lowe. She also leaves a

Melba Luckett was born February 27, 1951 in Corinth, MS the daughter of the
late Ted and Rheba Hopkins Gray.
She was united in marriage to James Kenneth Luckett on March 20, 1971.
Mrs. Luckett earned a Bachelor of Science Education from Bethel College with a special
education endorsement. She taught in West Carroll County Special School District,, Hollow Rock
- Bruceton Special School District, and Jackson Madison County School district. She retired
after 29 years of touching the lives of so many children.
She enjoyed traveling but also loved being home. She was a 25 year booster for Union University
basketball. She was a member of the West Jackson Baptist Church in Jackson, Tennessee. She
loved her Sunday school class, Wood/Bryant Bible Fellowship Team.
She was a proud supporter of her grandsons, Blake and Logan. She always enjoyed watching them
play baseball and basketball.
Mrs. Luckett departed this life on January 24, 2020 in Germantown, Tennessee at the age of 68
Years, 10 Months, 28 Days. She is survived by her husband, James Kenneth Luckett of Jackson,
TN; a daughter, Kristina Luckett and wife Mandi Balduf-Luckett of Memphis, TN; a son, Ken
Luckett of Hendersonville, TN; two grandsons, Blake and Logan Luckett both of Adamsville, TN;
her best friend, Jan Baxter and husband Curtis of Humboldt, TN; and a host of close friends and
church family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Luckett was preceded in death by a grandson, Dustin

Janet Dean Cottingham, 78, of Hollow Rock passed away Wednesday, September
19 at her residence. Memorial services were held on September 23 at Bruceton Funeral Home.
Burial will follow on September 29 at Shiloh First Baptist Church Cemetery in Selma,
Alabama.
Mrs. Cottingham was born on July 16, 1940 in
Natchez, Mississippi to the late Dean P. Ott and Edna Rhymes Ott. She was a member of Tremount
First Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Cooley and
a step-daughter, Teresa Juanette Bowles.
She is survived by a spouse, Dorman M.
Cottingham of Hollow Rock; a daughter, Heather (Rich) Bratton of Hollow Rock; two sons, David
Cottingham of Camden, and Chris (Amanda) Cottingham of Gadsden; 4 step-daughters, Nelda (Daniel)
Hunter of Grove Hill, Alabama, Sandy Hafemann of Boynton Beach, Florida, Susan Hunter of Lake
Worth, Florida, and Donna Tomlinson of Jasper, Florida; eight grandchildren; and six

Mary Neel McMackins, 80, of Bruceton passed away Sunday, April 23 at Life Care Center of Bruceton.
Funeral services were held April 25 in the chapel of Chase Funeral Home, with Bro. Steve Davis
officiating. Burial followed in Prospect Cemetery.
Mrs. McMackins was born September 16, 1936 in Zach to the late William Elliot and Floy (Patterson)
Hurt. She was retired from the cafeteria at Central High School and a member of Prospect Baptist
Church. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gene Robert McMackins; a son, Russell McMackins of
Chesapeak, Va.; daughters, Amy Jo Hollingsworth of Medina, Sherrie Jean (Dave) Finnan of Pisgah
Forest, N.C., Bonnie Gayle (Bruce) Hilliard of Bruceton, Kathy Dunham of Huntingdon, and a
step-daughter, Teresa McMackins of McKenzie; then grandchildren, Charly, John, Danny, Katie, Aaron,

Robison 1942-2018
Larry Dwight Robison, 75, of Bruceton, passed away Thursday, April 19 at St.
Thomas Hospital in Nashville after a short illness. A "Home Going" celebration was held April
21 at Bruceton First Baptist Church, with Bro. Josh Franks officiating. Burial followed at
Milledgeville Cemetery in Milledgeville. Pallbearers were Derreld Robison, Alan Robison,
Phillip Robison, Nathan Robison, Steve Parker, and John Parker. Mr. Robison was born December
16, 1942 near Enville in Chester County. He was the son of the late Lee and Pauline Robison.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Robison.
He graduated from Adamsville High School in 1960 and then enrolled in
Lambuth College in Jackson. He graduated from there in 1964 with a degree in biology. He began his
teaching career at Central High School in 1964. He received his Master in Education from Murray
State in 1968. In 1966 he married Betty Rowland and she began her teaching career in Bruceton.
Together they taught for over 75 years, touching the lives of many young people in the area. He was
known in the classroom for his toughness, fairness and humor.
Larry had many interests: antique cars, tractors, gasoline engines,
telephones, and clocks. He enjoyed going to antique shows with his family and talking about
antiques with his friends. he and Betty were widely known in the area for their "Robison peaches,"
which were the best that could be bought. They sold the peaches on the highway in front of the
school and home delivered many more. He loved to hear people brag about his peaches.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Robison; two sons, John
Robison (Beth) of Medina and David Robison (Tonya) of Bruceton. He also leaves five grandchildren,

Tn. Mrs. Young was a
member of the Camden Church of Christ, a
retired school bus driver,former owner of the Magic Memory
Bake Shop, worked at H.I.S and wasa substitute school
teacher. She was, also, a member of Bruceton Churchof
Christ for many years.

Powley was born August 22, 1922 in Hardin, Ky. to the late Charley Harrison Starks and Eldora
Smith Starks. She was a member of Bruceton Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Powley; a daughter, Dianne Powley Rodgers; a
son, Gary Powley; and three brothers, Buell, Dwayne, and Quinton Starks.
She is survived by a daughter, Denise (Ricky) Umstead of Huntingdon; five grandchildren, Crispin
Powley, Shyanna Frazee, Dylan Powley, Shane Umstead, and Colton Umstead; and four
great-grandchildren, London and Gavin Frazee and Reese and Fisher Powley. [Source: Carroll County

Dasha Faith Roberts, age 18 of New Concord, KY died on Thursday, December 10,
2015, at Murray-Calloway Co. Hospital in Murray, KY. She
was a senior at Marshall County High School and was a member of the cheerleading
squad.
Born Friday, October 24, 1997, she was the
daughter of Michael Roberts of Bruceton, TN and Amy (French) Fulbright, husband Marty of New
Concord, KY. Surviving are her parents; brothers, Colin Roberts
of Bruceton, TN, Rhodes Fulbright of Paris, TN and Cade Fulbright of Paris, TN;
grandparents: Carl & Barbara Roberts of Bruceton, TN, Mark and Debbie French of Camden,
TN, and Marty and Brad Hurley of Bruceton, TN; and great grandparents: Carolyn and
Harold Cole of Camden TN.
Funeral service will be held at First Baptist
Church of Bruceton, TN on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Sonny Daniels
officiating, Visitation will be held at Bruceton Funeral Home Sunday, December 13, 2015 between the
hours of 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in the Prospect Cemetery in
Bruceton, TN. Visitation will be held between the hours of 5:00
PM and 8:00 PM on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY
42025.

Mr. Jesse Ray Leaver, 21, of Bruceton, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, at McKenzie
Regional Medical Center. Services were conducted at noon on Thursday, Feb. 26, at First
Baptist Church in Bruceton. Cremation followed. Bro. Lonnie Hollingsworth officiated.
Pallbearers who served were Eddie Leaver, Hunter Haynes, Jamie Drinkard, Josh Leaver, Lonnie
Small II, Haden Williams, and Dalton Williams.
Mr. Leaver was born on Feb. 19, 1994, in Paris to Mr. Eddie Alan Leaver and Shelly Marie Leach
Leaver. He was a Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School graduate and a Bethel University junior.
He was a member of Bruceton First Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting, playing basketball,
baseball, and co-ed softball.
He is survived by his parents, Eddie and Shelly Leaver of Iowa; a sister, Crystal (Lonnie) Small
of Iowa; two brothers, Jamie Drinkard of Florida and Josh Leaver of Paris; maternal grandmother,
Joyce Sullivan of Huntingdon and Sherry Leonard of Iowa; a great-grandmother, Evelyn Reed of Iowa;
paternal grandfather, James Frazee of Bruceton; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and

Steven Dewayne Brown, Sr., 54, formerly of Hollow Rock, died Thursday, October 9, 2014 at his
residence in Martin. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.
at the chapel of Bruceton Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Davis officiating. Burial will follow at
Hebron Cemetery.
Mr. Brown was born on February 12, 1960 in Pontiac, MI to Mrs. Lorelie Ann Castle Brown, who
survives, and the late Mr. Dallas Ray (Pete) Brown Sr. He formerly worked maintenance for
Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He is survived by: wife Linda Diane Brown, of Huntingdon; mother Lorelie Brown, of Hollow Rock;
two daughters, Brittany Brown of Paris, and Tiffany Brown Reese of Detroit, MI; two sons, Dakota
Brown of Dickson, and Steven Dewayne Brown Jr. of California; two sisters, Marti (Barry) Weger of
Jackson, and Jennifer (Michael) Evans of Milan; one brother, Dallas (Michelle) Brown of Sterling
Heights, MI; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Jimmy Wade Groom, 75, of Huntingdon, Tennessee, died Monday, September 8,
2008 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted on
Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 1:30 PM in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home. Interment will follow
in the Bethel Cemetery. Rev. George Hill and Brother Fred Ward will officiate the
services.
Mr. Groom was born May 31, 1933, in Carroll
County, Tennessee, to the late Leonard and Mae (McAdoo) Groom. He was a retired job counselor for
the TN Dept. of Employment Security, a member of the Huntingdon First Baptist Church and a member
of the Woodman of the World.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joy
Groom, three sons, Steven A. (Shanna) Groom, of Jackson, TN, Kevin W. Groom, of Nashville, TN,
Brian L. (Bethany) Groom, of Jackson, TN, a sister, Evelyn Turner, of Huntingdon, TN and a brother,
Leonard Groom, Jr., of Collierville, TN. He also leaves six grandchildren, Ryne Rush, Haley Groom,
Abby Mae Groom, Zachary Groom, Tyler Groom and Garrett Groom.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday
from 4 PM till 8 PM in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home and on Thursday from 10 AM till time of
services.
